It’s all on Kimbo Slice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Love him or hate him, MMA fans <\/strong>know the name.\u00a0 Kimbo<\/strong> was the backyard brawler<\/strong> who became a Youtube<\/strong> sensation.\u00a0 Then Kimbo<\/strong> transitioned to cage fighter<\/strong> and instantly began to headline cards.\u00a0 It didn’t matter that he was fighting little known opponents.\u00a0 It was even less of a concern that he wasn’t fighting for the UFC<\/strong>, seen by many as the premiere MMA <\/strong>organization.\u00a0 What did matter was that Kimbo<\/strong> was winning.\u00a0 And those wins made more people tune in,\u00a0 which drove up ratings as well as Kimbo’s paycheck<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Then in his third pro MMA<\/strong> fight Kimbo <\/strong>was knocked out<\/strong>.\u00a0 It was a devestating loss<\/strong>.\u00a0 Suddenly Kimbo<\/strong> was seen as the Emperor<\/strong> with no clothes.\u00a0 The organization that Kimbo<\/strong> fought for went out of business.\u00a0 Dana White <\/strong>of the UFC<\/strong> said that the only way Kimbo<\/strong> would ever fight for him was if Kimbo<\/strong> earned his way by winning The Ultimate Fighter<\/strong>.\u00a0 Most folks thought that Kimbo<\/strong> would take his money and fade away.<\/p>\n

Last night Dan Wetzel broke the story<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>that Kimbo Slice<\/strong> will be one of the sixteen heavyweight<\/strong> on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter<\/strong>.\u00a0 Talk about a win-win situation<\/strong> for everyone involved.\u00a0 Kimbo<\/strong>, if he wins<\/strong>, heck, even if he just does well, shows the world that he in’t just a backyard brawler<\/strong>. If Kimbo loses<\/strong> [and odds are he will], he will know how close he is to being able to compete with UFC<\/strong> caliber fighers.\u00a0 Should it turn out that Kimbo<\/strong> was just a flash in the pan, a tough guy<\/strong> who was able to parlay his big fists into a few big paydays, he will still be able to walk away knowing that at least he tried.\u00a0 He had the stones to put it on the line and enter the cage.<\/p>\n

Kimbo fans<\/strong> are winners<\/strong> because they’ll get to see their guy mix it up agian.\u00a0 If he wins [or does well], they’ll be able to say, [as my buddy, JB<\/strong> does to rub it in] “I tole you so!”\u00a0 If Kimbo loses<\/strong>, they can also say at least he tried.\u00a0 Who doesn’t like someone who gives it their best shot?\u00a0 The Kimbo haters<\/strong> are winners<\/strong> because they can crow if Kimbo <\/strong>doesn’t win it all.\u00a0 And even if he does make it to the finals and win, the haters will still have\u00a0 tuned in each week hoping to see Kimbo<\/strong> take a whoopin’.<\/p>\n

Of course Dana White<\/strong> and the UFC <\/strong>is the biggest winner<\/strong>.\u00a0 Having Kimbo<\/strong> on the show gets them tons of publicity.\u00a0 More press means more people tuning in to see next season of The Ultimate Fighter<\/strong>… and the great thing is it doesn’t matter to White <\/strong>or the UFC<\/strong> if Kimbo<\/strong> wins, does well or loses.\u00a0 If he loses, that just proves that it takes a special breed of fighter<\/strong> to be successful in the UFC<\/strong>.\u00a0 If Kimbo<\/strong> wins, it just means more people tuning in to pay-per-views to see Kimbo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
