Farrah Fawcett<\/strong> passed away today at the age of 62<\/strong> after a long battle with cancer.<\/p>\n Although best known as a 70’s sex symbol<\/strong>, Farrah<\/strong> actually started working in commercials and bit parts in television<\/strong><\/a> in the late 60’s<\/strong>.\u00a0 Anyone besides me old enough to remember her 1973 commercial with Joe Namath<\/strong><\/a>?\u00a0 Then in September<\/strong> of 1976<\/strong>, and the premiere of Charlie’s Angels<\/strong>, Farrah<\/strong> shot to superstardom.\u00a0 The show was a hit and Farrah<\/strong> was the fan favorite angel.\u00a0 Her poster<\/strong> sold millions of copies and became a 70’s icon<\/strong>.\u00a0 Farrah<\/strong> stayed with the series for just one year before leaving to try her hand at movies.\u00a0 Although her theatrical movies didn’t do well [I do remember liking “Saturn 3”<\/strong> with Kirk Douglas<\/strong>], she continued to be a fan favorite.<\/p>\n In 1984<\/strong>, Farrah<\/strong> earned an Emmy nomination<\/strong> for “The Burning Bed”<\/strong>.\u00a0 She would earn two more before her career was over [“Small Sacrifices”<\/strong> and “The Guardian”<\/strong>].\u00a0 In 1995<\/strong>, at the age of 48<\/strong>, Farrah <\/strong>posed nude for Playboy<\/strong>.\u00a0 It became the best selling issue of the decade.<\/p>\n The last few years had been tough ones for Farrah<\/strong> as she struggled to beat the cancer that ultimately took her life.\u00a0 Farrah<\/strong> has passed on, but her icon status<\/strong> will be outlive most of us.\u00a0 Growing up in the late 60’s<\/strong> and 70’s<\/strong>, Farrah Fawcett <\/strong>was our Marilyn Monroe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Our thoughts go out to her family, friends and fans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Farrah Fawcett passed away today at the age of 62 after a long battle with cancer.
