{"id":32597,"date":"2023-04-15T08:04:00","date_gmt":"2023-04-15T12:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=32597"},"modified":"2023-04-15T09:41:05","modified_gmt":"2023-04-15T13:41:05","slug":"horror-movies-that-need-rebooted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=32597","title":{"rendered":"Horror Movies That Need Rebooted!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2023\/z041523horror_reboots.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"472\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cailyn Szelinski at CBR.com came up with her list of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbr.com\/classic-horror-films-that-need-reboots\/#carnival-of-souls-1962\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">10 Classic Horror Movies That Deserve A Reboot<\/a>.\u00a0 Before you click over, here are my thoughts on her suggestions as well as a couple more.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Carnival Of Souls<\/em> (1962) is a cult classic.\u00a0 As Szelinski points out, it was remade once to poor reviews.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not a big fan of the original.\u00a0 Unless you find someone like Guillermo del Toro who has a passion for the material, then I&#8217;d say, &#8220;Pass.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>The Bride Of Frankenstein<\/em> (1935) is one of the most beloved of all the classic Universal Horror movies.\u00a0 There is no need for a remake.\u00a0 Fans of the original would be a hard sell.\u00a0 Is the Bride really scary enough to bring in a younger audience?\u00a0 I&#8217;d again say, &#8220;Pass.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>The Wolf Man<\/em> (1941).\u00a0 Most everyone likes werewolf movies.\u00a0 There&#8217;ve been many made, but few are considered great.\u00a0 Every time a new werewolf film comes out, I hope for the best.\u00a0 Yeah, I&#8217;m for a <em>Wolfman<\/em> reboot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Rosemary&#8217;s Baby<\/em> (1968).\u00a0 I think this is a great idea for all the same reasons as Cailyn Szelinski.\u00a0 You&#8217;ll see why when you click over.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Creature From The Black Lagoon<\/em> (1954) is one of my all-time favorite movies.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not just talking about horror either.\u00a0 Because I hold it in such high regard you might think that I would be against a reboot.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not.\u00a0 A reboot of <em>The Creature<\/em> has perhaps the most potential of all these films.\u00a0 Everyone loves the Creature.\u00a0 As Szelinski says with modern technology a truly terrifying update could be made.\u00a0 Someone do it!!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>What Ever Happened To Baby Jane<\/em> (1962).\u00a0 I&#8217;m not sure this would work.\u00a0 Bette Davis and Joan Crawford didn&#8217;t get along in real life.\u00a0 Their public dislike for each other provided publicity and increased curiosity about the film.\u00a0 What two actresses could replicate that these days?\u00a0 Would modern audiences even care?\u00a0 Pass.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em> The Lost Boys<\/em> (1987).\u00a0 With the right cast, I think that this would work.<\/p>\n<p><em>The House Of Usher<\/em> (1960).\u00a0 There&#8217;s been a remake that didn&#8217;t do well.\u00a0 Period pieces are a tough sell.\u00a0 Pass.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>The Exorcist<\/em> (1973).\u00a0 <em>The Exorcist<\/em> spawned several sequels.\u00a0 Movies about exorcisms are released fairly regularly.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not sure if a reboot of the classic that kickstarted the genre would work.\u00a0 For those reasons I say, &#8220;Pass.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em> The Birds<\/em> (1963).\u00a0 This is perhaps the most surprising horror film on Cailyn Szelinski&#8217;s list.\u00a0 It would be tough to top Hitchcock.\u00a0 Would modern audiences buy in to it?\u00a0 Szelinski says, &#8220;Nature is not a common antagonist in modern horror movies, as they rely on masked killers and illnesses that spread rapidly and turn people into zombies.&#8221;\u00a0 She&#8217;s right.\u00a0 But what if the birds are attacking people and carry a virus that turns folks into zombies?\u00a0 Who wouldn&#8217;t want to see that movie?\u00a0 (Or is it just me?)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Here are a few horror films, I&#8217;d like to see rebooted&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Invasion of the Body Snatchers<\/em> (1956).\u00a0 It&#8217;s been remade once, but that was decades ago. Both the original and the remake are consider classics.
