Abby doesn&#8217;t.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The Plot\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Owen is having a bad year.\u00a0 His recently divorced parents don&#8217;t have much time for him.\u00a0 He has no friends and is being bullied at school.\u00a0 Then one winter evening he meets Abby.\u00a0 She&#8217;s twelve, too.\u00a0 Abby is strange, but nice.\u00a0 Abby lives with her dad in an apartment across the way. Abby doesn&#8217;t go to school.\u00a0 Each evening Owen talks to Abby before he has to go in for the night.\u00a0 Although the bullying at school is getting worse, Owen and Abby are starting to like each other more than friends.<\/p>\n<p>What nobody knows is Abby is a vampire.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong style=\"font-size: inherit; color: var(--text-color); font-family: var(--text-font);\"><strong style=\"font-size: inherit; color: var(--text-color); font-family: var(--text-font);\">Thoughts (beware of spoilers)<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Let Me In<\/em> is a remake of <em>Let the Right One In<\/em>, a 2008 Swedish film directed by Tomas Alfredson with a screenplay by John Ajvide Lindqvist based on his novel <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3Ym6T1w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LET THE RIGHT ONE IN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Matt Reeves directed <em>Cloverfield<\/em> before taking the helm of <em>Let Me In<\/em>.\u00a0 He would go on to direct <em>Dawn of the Planet of the Apes; War for the Planet of the Apes;<\/em> and <em>The Batman<\/em>.\u00a0 I thought <em>Cloverfield<\/em> was good, <em>Dawn<\/em> and <em>War for the Planet of the Apes<\/em>, very good and <em>The Batman<\/em>, even better.\u00a0 <em>Let Me In<\/em> may be my preference of all of his films.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stephen King called <em>Let Me<\/em> In his favorite film of 2010 and named it &#8220;The best American horror film in the last twenty years.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Matt Reeves deserves much of the credit for the success of<em> Let Me In<\/em>.\u00a0 He creates moody scenes that he lets play out.\u00a0 There are special effects but they are used sparingly and effectively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kodi Smit-McPhee was an excellent choice to play Owen.\u00a0 Chlo\u00eb Grace Moretz is perfect as Abby, the vampire who has been 12 for a very long time.\u00a0 Richard Jenkins was a surprising choice to play &#8220;father&#8221;.\u00a0 I loved the suspense of his scenes when he went out at night alone.\u00a0 Dylan Minnette made a great bully.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I put off watching <em>Let Me In<\/em> for a long time because of the kid being bullied and girl who is a vampire story made me think it&#8217;d be more for teenagers.\u00a0 I was wrong.\u00a0 I look forward to repeated viewings of<em> Let Me In<\/em> (and I plan to seek out <em>Let the Right One In<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: var(--text-color);
