Sakall, John Daheim\u00a0<\/strong> and <strong>Alan Hale<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tagline: <em>&#8220;Sure I know you&#8217;re a two-timer!&#8230;but I&#8217;m going to kiss the two-timing out of you!&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The Plot\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When Michael Gordon (Clark) learns that he&#8217;s sold his first painting, he wants to meet the person who bought it.\u00a0 So he tracks down Laurie Durant (Smith) and invites her to dinner.\u00a0 There&#8217;s an instant attraction between the two.\u00a0 Dinner leads to an evening swim. Then breakfast the following morning.\u00a0 When Laurie spots a thugish looking man entering the cafe, she quickly leaves.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Michael learns that she has returned to New York City. He follows.\u00a0 Mike finds Laurie singing in a nightclub. When she finishes, he goes to her dressing room.\u00a0 There Mike gets into a fight and knocks out a hood.\u00a0 Turns out the hood was a middleweight contender who works for Rex Durant (Scott), the owner of the nightclub.\u00a0 Rex is also Laurie&#8217;s husband.\u00a0 Rex tells Michael he&#8217;s got the makings of a champion prize fighter.\u00a0 Soon Michael is climbing up the ranks and trying to put Laurie out of this mind.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But we all know that&#8217;s not going to happen.\u00a0 Let the love triangle roll&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-size: inherit; color: var(--text-color); font-family: var(--text-font);\"><strong style=\"font-size: inherit; color: var(--text-color); font-family: var(--text-font);\">Thoughts (beware of spoilers)<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Whiplash<\/em> works better than it should.\u00a0 It&#8217;s got the sensitive artist who&#8217;s also a championship caliber fighter.\u00a0 Two lovers who cannot be together because of a sadistic man.\u00a0 A mob boss surrounded by thugs to protect him.\u00a0 Some of the most unrealistic boxing scenes outside of The Three Stooges.\u00a0 A fighter who refuses to &#8220;stay down&#8221;.\u00a0 A secret revealed.\u00a0 And a mob boss who gets his in the end.\u00a0 (&#8220;Did someone call a taxi?&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dane Clark projects just the right amount of cockiness.\u00a0 While I find him more believable as a sensitive artist, than a tough guy, for some reason he does a fine job playing both here.\u00a0 The camera likes Alexis Smith and so do I. Zachary Scott is a villain audiences love to hate.\u00a0 Kudos also to S.Z.
