The Plot\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

Detective Lou Torrey (Bronson) killed a 17 year old hood who fired first.\u00a0 Torrey’s shooting is justified, but the heat is on.\u00a0 Torrey is quick with a gun and pushes past what is legal to get the guilty.\u00a0 So Torrey leaves the New York City to become a member of the LA police force.<\/p>\n

When Detective Torrey comes across clues that the Mafia is planning something big, no one believes him.\u00a0 As he digs deeper, Torrey discovers that mercenaries are working with the mob bosses.\u00a0 Soon Torrey is in their sights.<\/p>\n

Thoughts (beware of spoilers)<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

Charles Bronson and Michael Winner hit gold with The Mechanic<\/em>.\u00a0 Unfortunately, lightning didn’t strike again with The Stone Killer<\/em>.\u00a0 It would however, when they teamed the following year with Death Wish<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Stone Killer<\/em> is definitely a ’70s movie.\u00a0 Detective Torrey is made in the mold of Harry Callahan, but The The Stone Killer<\/em> is at best a poor man’s Dirty Harry<\/em>.<\/p>\n

If you’re a fan of character actors, you’ll enjoy all of the faces popping up throughout The Stone Killer.<\/em> \u00a0You’ll see Martin “Psycho”<\/em> Balsam, Norman “Three’s Company”<\/em> Fell, Stuart “The Rockford Files”<\/em> Margolin, Ralph “The Waltons”<\/em> Waite, Alfred “Star Trek”<\/em> Ryder, Charles “The Outlaw Josey Wales”<\/em> Tyner, Robert “Alfred Hitchcock Presents”<\/em> Emhardt to name just a few.<\/p>\n

The Stone Killer<\/em> isn’t one of Bronson’s best, but it does have more high falls than a John Wayne western and a car chase worthy of It\u2019s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World<\/em>.<\/p>\n
