It&#8217;s hard to believe, isn&#8217;t it?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Story:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A serial killer in Las Vegas continues to leave victims drained of blood.\u00a0 Reporter Carl Kolchak (McGavin) believes that the murderer believes he&#8217;s a vampire.\u00a0 When Kolchak turns in an article saying that, he is called into a meeting with his editor and the police.\u00a0 Kolchak&#8217;s story is rejected.\u00a0 His editor thinks it would tarnish the paper&#8217;s reputation.\u00a0 The police think it would panic the public.<\/p>\n<p>What everyone doesn&#8217;t know, but will learn &#8211; the killer<strong> is<\/strong> a vampire!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thoughts (beware of spoilers)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>The Night Stalker<\/em> was released as an ABC Movie of the Week in 1972.\u00a0 I was 11 years old and couldn&#8217;t wait to see it. I wasn&#8217;t the only one.\u00a0<em> The Night Stalker<\/em> became the highest rated tv movie up to that point.\u00a0 The following year, Kolchak returned when <em>The Night Strangler<\/em> was released.\u00a0 <em>Kolchak: The Night Stalker<\/em> was then adapted into a television series.\u00a0 It lasted one season, but became a cult classic.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>The Night Stalker<\/em> was produced by Dan <em>&#8220;Dark Shadows&#8221;<\/em> Curtis.\u00a0 It features an outstanding cast considering it was a made-for-tv movie.\u00a0 Darren McGavin is Carl Kolchak.\u00a0 It was cool to see him play the character in two movies and the television series.\u00a0 Carol Lynley doesn&#8217;t have much to do as Kolchak&#8217;s girlfriend.\u00a0 Ralph Meeker has a nice role as Kolchak&#8217;s buddy on the force.\u00a0 <em>The Night Stalker<\/em> is filled with great character actors including Simon Oakland, Claude Akins, Charles McGraw, Kent Smith and Stanley Adams.
