Top Secret! <\/strong><\/em>(1984)<\/p>\n Director:\u00a0 Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, Jerry Zucker<\/strong><\/p>\n Screenplay by: \u00a0Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, Jerry Zucker, Martyn Burke<\/strong> Starring: Val Kilmer, Lucy Gutteridge, Omar Sharif<\/strong>, Jeremy Kemp, Warren Clarke, Ian McNeice,\u00a0 Michael Gough <\/strong>and Peter Cushing<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n Tagline: Shhh!<\/em><\/p>\n The Story:<\/strong><\/p>\n While on tour in East Germany (a very Nazi-like place), rock-and-roll superstar, Nick Rivers (Kilmer) falls in love and is drawn into international intrigue.<\/p>\n Thoughts (beware of spoilers)<\/strong><\/p>\n I put off seeing Top Secret!<\/em> for There are sight-gags galore.\u00a0 I was surprised\/amused by the abuse that Omar Sharif took.\u00a0 The cow-disguise and the underwater fight scenes were worth the price of admission.\u00a0 If I was to pick any nits, I’d say take out a song or two and add more silliness.\u00a0 Still, if\u00a0you’re a fan of Airplane<\/em>-type humor, then you’d probably enjoy Top Secret!.<\/em><\/p>\n Top Secret! \n<\/strong><\/p>\nyears<\/s> decades because of less than stellar reviews.\u00a0 Recently I saw a clip of Val Kilmer, Lucy Gutteridge and Peter Cushing in the Swedish bookstore scene.\u00a0 The scene was staged so that it could run backwards in the movie.\u00a0 The end result is English dialogue playing backwards for Swedish and the actors pulling off very interesting effects. Check out the scene<\/a> and see what I mean.\u00a0 I thought that was extremely clever, so I decided to give the movie a chance.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/logo\/zview_c.png\")
