{"id":34470,"date":"2023-11-12T08:27:12","date_gmt":"2023-11-12T13:27:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=34470"},"modified":"2023-11-12T08:27:12","modified_gmt":"2023-11-12T13:27:12","slug":"rip-robert-butler","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=34470","title":{"rendered":"RIP: Robert Butler"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2023\/z111223rip_robert_butler.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Robert Butler, the award winning director and writer, died on November 3, 2023.\u00a0 Mr. Butler was 95.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Butler began his career in entertainment as a CBS usher after graduating from UCLA with a degree in English.\u00a0 Robert Butler also worked as a production clerk, stage manager, before getting the job as an associate director where he worked with mentor directors such as John Frankenheimer and Arthur Penn.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Butler&#8217;s first directing job was for the television series <em>Hennesey<\/em>.\u00a0 Robert Butler would direct television and feature films for the rest of his career.\u00a0 Mr. Butler became known as the go-to guy for directing television pilots which set the tone for the series.\u00a0 Some of the pilots that Robert Butler directed include: <em>Hogan&#8217;s Heroes<\/em> (1965), <em>Star Trek<\/em> (1966), <em>Batman<\/em> (1966), <em>The Blue Knight<\/em> (1973, TV&#8217;s first mini-series), <em>Hill Street Blues<\/em> (1978), <em>Moonlighting<\/em> (1985), <em>Sisters<\/em> (1991) and <em>Lois &amp; Clark: The New Adventures of Superman<\/em> (1993).<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Clark was an award-winning director&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">1974 Winner Primetime Emmy <em>Director of the Year &#8211; The Blue Knight<\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">1974 Winner Primetime Emmy <em>Best Directing in Drama<\/em> &#8211; A Single Program of a Series with Continuing Characters and\/or Theme &#8211;<em> The Blue Knight<\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">1981 Winner Primetime Emmy <em>Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series<\/em> &#8211; <em>Hill Street Blues<\/em> premiere episode<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">1982 Winner DGA Award <em>Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series &#8211; Hill Street Blues<\/em> premiere<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">2001 Winner Robert B.
