Frances Sternhagen was an award-winning actress who appeared on stage, television and in movies in a career that spanned nearly 70 years.\u00a0 During her career she was nominated for seven Tony <\/em>awards (winning two) as well as three Primetime Emmy<\/em> award n<\/em>ominations.<\/p>\n Some of Frances Sternhagen’s television appearances include:\u00a0 Love of Life; The Secret Storm; Omnibus; Studio One<\/em> (2 episodes); Play of the Week<\/em> (2 episodes); The Defenders; Profiles in Courage; The Doctors<\/em> (42 episodes); NET Playhouse<\/em> (2 episodes); Great Performances<\/em> (2 episodes); Spencer<\/em> (1985 – 7 episodes); At Mother’s Request<\/em> (2 episodes); Golden Years<\/em> (7 episodes); Tales from the Crypt; Cheers<\/em> (7 episodes); The Road Home<\/em> (6 episodes); The Outer Limits<\/em> (1985); Law & Order<\/em> (2 episodes); The Simpsons; Sex & the City<\/em> (10 episodes); ER<\/em> (21 episodes) and The Closer<\/em> (16 episodes).<\/p>\n Some of Frances Sternhagen’s feature films include: Up the Down Staircase; The Hospital; Starting Over; Outland; Bright Lights, Big City; Misery; Doc Hollywood; Raising Cain<\/em> and The Mist<\/em>.<\/p>\n My favorite Francis Sternhagen role was when she played Dr. Marian Lazarus in Outland<\/em>.\u00a0 She and Sean Connery had great chemistry.\u00a0 Another favorite role is when she played Irene Reppler in The Mist<\/em>.\u00a0 Any time Francis Sternhagen appeared the production improved.<\/p>\n Our thoughts and prayers go out to Frances Sternhagen’s family, friends and fans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Frances Sternhagen died on November 27, 2023.\u00a0 Ms. Sternhagen was 93.
