While digging through the ZONE<\/strong> vault yesterday I came across a folder containing clippings of Al Hirschfeld<\/strong> art. Hopefully, you’re familiar with Mr. Hirschfeld’s genius<\/strong>. [If not, Al Hirschfeld<\/strong> was born in 1903<\/strong>. By the time he was 17<\/strong>, he was the art director at Selznick Pictures<\/strong>. In 1924<\/strong> he moved to Paris<\/strong> to “lead the Bohemian life.”\u00a0 In 1943<\/strong>, he married Dolly Haas<\/strong>, a famous European actress<\/strong> and together they produced a daughter, Nina<\/strong>.\u00a0 After her birth Mr. Hirschfeld<\/strong> would hide\u00a0Nina’s name<\/strong> in his drawings and a number by his signature indicated how many were hidden.\u00a0 Mr. Hirschfeld<\/strong> passed away in 2003<\/strong> just a few months shy of his 100th<\/strong> birthday.<\/p>\n That’s Mr. Hirschfeld’s take<\/strong> on Jackie Gleason<\/strong> and cast\u00a0of the tv classic “The Honeymooners.”<\/strong>\u00a0 You can While digging through the ZONE vault yesterday I came across a folder containing clippings of Al Hirschfeld art.
