Patrick Swayze<\/strong> died yesterday, after a 20 month<\/strong> battle with pancreatic cancer<\/strong>.\u00a0 He was just 57 years<\/strong> old.<\/p>\n

I first remember seeing Patrick Swayzee<\/strong> in\u00a0“The Outsiders”<\/strong> based on the classic S.E. Hinton<\/strong> novel.\u00a0 Later that same year he appeared in “Uncommon Valor.”<\/strong>\u00a0 But it was in “Red Dawn”<\/strong> that I really took notice of Patrick’s work<\/strong>.\u00a0 He was excellent as the leader of the young rebels fighting against a Soviet<\/strong> invasion.\u00a0 Patrick’s<\/strong> next big hit was “Dirty Dancing”<\/strong>\u00a0and it\u00a0propelled him to superstar status.\u00a0Patrick<\/strong> went on to star in such films as “Road House”,\u00a0“Ghost”,<\/strong> and my personal favorite,\u00a0“Point Break”.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0I also have to mention\u00a0his <\/strong>appearance on Saturday Night Live<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0classic sketch<\/a><\/strong> with Chris Farley<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Patrick Swayzee<\/strong> was a dancer [“Chicago”<\/strong> and “Guys and Dolls”<\/strong>], an actor [nominated for three Golden Globe<\/strong> awards], a composer and singer [he co-wrote and sang “She’s Like the Wind”<\/strong> from “Dirty Dancing”<\/strong>], and even People’s Sexiest Man of the Year<\/strong>.\u00a0 But was his role as a husband [married for\u00a034 years<\/strong> to Lisa Niemi<\/strong>], humanitarian and conservationist that he would probably most want to be remembered.<\/p>\n
