Kenneth Campbell, Ken Jenkins<\/strong> and Chris Elliott.<\/strong><\/p>\n Tagline: Deep below the blue surface, there lies a place no one has ever dreamed of…..<\/em><\/p>\n The Plot<\/strong><\/p>\n A United States military nuclear submarine has an encounter with something deep in the ocean and sinks.\u00a0 The sub comes to rest near the Cayman Trough, the deepest point in the Caribbean Sea.\u00a0 Soviet Ships are heading to the location to try to salvage whatever they can.\u00a0 In an effort to beat the Russians, the US sends in a Navy SEAL team to work with Deep Core crew members.\u00a0 Deep Core is a civilian company developing deep water vehicles for drilling.\u00a0 To complicate matters a hurricane will hit the area in hours.<\/p>\n The civilian crew and the Navy Seals form an uneasy alliance that begins to fray when they reach the ocean floor.\u00a0 The Seals have a hidden agenda… and there is something down there that no one was expecting.<\/p>\n Thoughts (beware of spoilers)\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n By all account The Abyss<\/em> was a difficult shoot.\u00a0 Tensions were high.\u00a0 The actors did most of the stunts.\u00a0 Both Ed Harris and James Cameron were in danger of drowning in different situations.\u00a0 Both Ed Harris and Elizabeth Mastrantonio have not spoken highly about their experience making the film.<\/p>\n Fluid breathing is a real thing.\u00a0 The rats used in the movie’s scenes actually breathed the specially treated fluid and were not harmed in the process.<\/p>\n The Abyss<\/em> features an excellent cast from the stars to the supporting actors.\u00a0 I was surprised by the turn of Michael Biehn’s character.<\/p>\n The Abyss<\/em> was nominated for four Academy Awards<\/em> (Best Cinematography<\/em>: Mikael Salomon; Best Art Direction-Set Decoration<\/em>: Leslie Dilley, Anne Kuljian; Best Sound<\/em>: Don J. Bassman, Kevin F.
