The Plot…<\/strong><\/p>\n

Detectives Ray Tango (Stallone) and Gabriel Cash (Russell) are two of LA’s top narcotic cops. They have a friendly rivalry and different styles.\u00a0 They don’t work together but their busts have put a dent in drug kingpin, Yves Perret’s (Palance) operation.<\/p>\n

Perret has Tango and Cash framed, convicted and sent to prison.\u00a0 Now he plans to have them murdered.<\/p>\n

If they are to survive Tango and Cash will have to work together, escape prison and find evidence to clear their names.\u00a0 Let the fun begin!<\/p>\n

Thoughts (beware of spoilers)\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tango & Cash<\/em> had two directors.\u00a0 Andrei (Runaway Train<\/em>) Konchalovsky helmed most of the film. Producers wanted a lighter, funnier film.\u00a0 Konchalovsky and Stallone felt a serious film with some humor would work better.\u00a0 Disagreements were constant, but Konchalovsky refused to give in.\u00a0 This and the movie going over-budget led to him being fired.\u00a0 Albert (Purple Rain<\/em>) Magnoli was brought in to finish the film.<\/p>\n

Jeffrey (Lethal Weapon 2<\/em> & 3<\/em>) did uncredited re-writes on the film.<\/p>\n

Patrick Swayze was originally cast as Cash.\u00a0 He dropped out to do Road House<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Sly’s character is asked if he stopped for “coffee and a Danish”.\u00a0 He replies, “I hate Danish.” This is an in-joke as Sly had recently divorced Danish actress Brigitte Nielsen.<\/p>\n

Both Brion James and Robert Z’Dar originally had smaller parts, but they impressed enough folks that their roles were expanded.<\/p>\n

Geoffrey Lewis has an uncredited cameo.<\/p>\n
