{"id":35735,"date":"2024-05-12T00:11:21","date_gmt":"2024-05-12T04:11:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=35735"},"modified":"2024-05-12T00:11:21","modified_gmt":"2024-05-12T04:11:21","slug":"rip-roger-corman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=35735","title":{"rendered":"RIP: Roger Corman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2024\/z051124rip_roger_corman.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"353\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Roger Corman,\u00a0 the award-winning writer, actor, director and producer died on May 9, 2024.\u00a0 Mr. Corman was 98.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After graduating high school Roger Corman went to Stanford University.\u00a0 While in the program, Mr. Corman decided he didn&#8217;t want to be an engineer.\u00a0 He enlisted in the Navy and served two years.\u00a0 He then went back to Stanford to complete his degree.\u00a0 Mr. Corman&#8217;s career as an engineer lasted less than a week.\u00a0 He quit and got a job in the 20th Century Fox mailroom.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">From the mailroom, Roger Corman took various jobs to learn as much as he could about filmmaking.\u00a0 He sold his first script and worked on the film as an associate producer.\u00a0 Mr. Corman formed his own production company and raised money to produce his first film.\u00a0 He never looked back.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Over the course of his career Roger Corman worked as an actor (46 credits), director (56 credits) and producer (493 credits).\u00a0 He is noted for hiring young, untested talents such as Jack Nicholson, Sly Stallone, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, James Cameron, Gale Anne Hurd, Jonathan Demme, Ron Howard, Peter Bogdanovich and others.\u00a0 Roger Corman won an Honorary Academy Award in 2010.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Roger Corman&#8217;s writing resume includes: <em>The Gunfighter<\/em> (uncredited script consultant); <em>Highway Dragnet<\/em> (story); <em>The Fast and the Furious<\/em> (1954) (story); <em>The Little Shop of Horrors<\/em> (co-writer uncredited); <em>The Terror<\/em> (uncredited); <em>Frankenstein Unbound<\/em> (screenplay); <em>Black Scorpion<\/em> (creator &#8211; 22 episodes).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some of Roger Corman&#8217;s acting appearances include: <em>Monster from the Ocean Floor; Highway Dragnet;
