Lang, Oni Faida Lampley, Joe Stevens,<\/strong> <strong>Richard Coca, Clifton James, Tony Frank, Miriam Colon, Kris Kristofferson, Joe Morton, LaTanya Richardson Jackson<\/strong>\u00a0and<strong> Matthew McConaughey .<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tagline: <em>John Sayles invites you to return to the scene of the crime.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Plot&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sam Deeds (Cooper) is Sheriff of Frontera, Texas, a small border town.\u00a0 When a skeleton, a Masonic ring and Sheriff&#8217;s badge are found in a shallow grave just outside of town, Deeds opens an investigation.\u00a0 The remains appear to be those of Charlie Wade.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wade was the infamously corrupt Sheriff of Frontera twenty years ago.\u00a0 Sheriff Wade vanished under mysterious circumstances. At the same time $10,000 of county funds was missing.\u00a0 To add to the puzzle, Wade&#8217;s disappearance happened after a public argument with one of his deputies.\u00a0 That deputy was Buddy Deeds (McConaughey), Sam&#8217;s father.\u00a0 During the argument each man threatened to kill the other.\u00a0 Many thought Buddy made good on his promise.\u00a0 That didn&#8217;t stop Buddy from becoming the new Sheriff.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But that was years ago.\u00a0 Although Buddy is dead, his legend lives on.\u00a0 And now his son,\u00a0 Sheriff Sam Deeds is determined to discover the truth.<\/p>\n<p>No one could have predicted the lies and deceptions about to surface.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Thoughts (beware of spoilers)\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Lone Star<\/em> was nominated for one <em>Academy Award<\/em>&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>nominee <em>Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen<\/em> &#8211; <strong>John Sayles<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Kudos to John Sayles who wrote, directed, and assembled an all-star cast to create an interesting mystery with heart.\u00a0 I loved Sayles&#8217; inventive transitions from present to past done without a cut.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I also get a kick out of the fact that the movie appears to be about solving the mystery of who was in the shallow grave and who killed him.\u00a0 But neither of those hold the answers to the biggest secrets that will be revealed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: inherit; color: initial;\"><em><strong>Lone Star\u00a0(1946)<\/strong> <\/em>rates 4 of 5 stars.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/logo\/zview_b.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"100\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2024\/z082524zview_lonestar2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"209\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lone Star (1996) Director: John Sayles Screenplay: John Sayles Stars: Chris Cooper, Elizabeth Pe\u00f1a, Stephen Mendillo, Stephen J.
