YOU ARE HERE<\/a> by Kyle Baker<\/span><\/p>\n The Overview:\u00a0 Beware of Spoilers\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n Noel Coleman has it all. He’s a successful artist. Helen, his beautiful fianc\u00e9e, loves him. He owns an attractive house in the country.\u00a0 \u00a0For the past year that Noel and Helen lived together, life has been perfect.<\/p>\n Noel plans to ask Helen to marry him.\u00a0 It’s just… he has secrets.\u00a0 Noel wants to come clean.\u00a0 But how do you tell your future (hopefully) wife that you were a criminal when you met her?\u00a0 Noel decides he’ll figure out how to tell her when the time comes.<\/p>\n So Noel informs Helen that he’s going into the city to clean the last things out of his apartment. When he gets back, he’ll pop the question.<\/p>\n Noel heads in to the city and runs into his old crime partner.\u00a0 They decide to have a drink.\u00a0 The more they talk the more Noel realizes he misses the life<\/em>.\u00a0 His partner talks about a job he’s set up. He offers Noel a piece of the action if he wants to come.\u00a0 Noel is tempted.\u00a0 He decides once he comes clean to Helen, her reaction will decide the life he’ll live.<\/p>\n Then Noel learns that an infamous serial killer just got released from prison.\u00a0 The killer has made it known he’s going to kill the bum that slept with his wife.\u00a0 Noel is that bum!\u00a0 Noel realizes he needs to get out of the city and quick.\u00a0 Thank God Helen didn’t come with him.<\/p>\n Noel sees Helen at about the same time as he catches sight of the killer.\u00a0 Unfortunately the killer has seen them.<\/p>\n Noel will have a lot of explaining to do if they survive.\u00a0 And odds are they won’t.<\/p>\n Thoughts (beware of spoilers)\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n The art feels very Disneyish and yet the story is noir.\u00a0 The combination works.\u00a0 Baker sets us up to expect one thing and gives us another.\u00a0 The bathtub scene (in the preview below) is just one example.\u00a0 I love the cartoony style used in this tale.\u00a0 I also thought telling the story without word balloons was creative.\u00a0 Having the serial killer resemble Robert Mitchum was icing on the cake.<\/p>\n This isn’t a story for kids.\u00a0 There is sex and violence.\u00a0 Happy endings are for Disney and this is noir.<\/p>\n YOU ARE HERE gets my highest recommendation!<\/p>\n YOU ARE HERE<\/a> by Kyle Baker<\/span>\u00a0rates 5 of 5 stars.<\/p>\n Rating:<\/strong>
