Robert Siodmak, 1944); <em>\u2018Leave Her to Heaven\u2019<\/em> (dir. John M. Stahl, 1945); \u00a0<em>\u2018The Reckless Moment\u2019<\/em> (dir. Max Ophuls, 1949) and <em>\u2018Sweet Smell of Success\u2019<\/em> (dir. Alexander Mackendrick, 1957).<\/p>\n<p>Using just Blauvelt&#8217;s 20, here are my top five (in alphabetical order)&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Big Sleep, The<\/em> (dir. Howard Hawks, 1946)<\/li>\n<li><em>Double Indemnity<\/em> (dir. Billy Wilder, 1944)<\/li>\n<li><em>In a Lonely Place<\/em> (dir. Nicholas Ray, 1950)<\/li>\n<li><em>Night of the Hunter<\/em> (dir. Charles Laughton, 1955)<\/li>\n<li><em>Touch of Evil<\/em> (dir.
