The Plot…<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

From all appearances Cooper (Harnett) is a great guy.\u00a0 He’s a firefighter, outgoing and friendly.\u00a0 Cooper is married with two kids.\u00a0 A real family man.<\/p>\n

Because his daughter, Riley (Donoghue) earned great grades on her last report card, Cooper takes her to a Lady Raven (S, Shyamalan) concert.\u00a0 As they enter the arena, Cooper notices a huge police presence.\u00a0 When they get inside, there are even more cops.\u00a0 They seem to be everywhere.\u00a0 Well, safety should be a priority for events this well attended.<\/p>\n

Once the concert starts, Cooper notices men are being escorted out by the police.\u00a0 Now curious and concerned, Cooper tells his daughter he’s going to the restroom.\u00a0 Then using his charm, Cooper learns a secret.\u00a0 The police are there because they got a lead that the serial killer known as The Butcher is in attendance.\u00a0 Every exit is covered.\u00a0 Police and FBI are there in force.\u00a0 They have a description of The Butcher and anyone fitting it, will be questioned before he is allowed out.<\/p>\n

Cooper is concerned.\u00a0 Not because a serial killer is at the concert.\u00a0 No.\u00a0 Cooper is concerned because he is The Butcher.<\/p>\n

Thoughts (beware of spoilers)\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saleka Shyamalan makes her film debut.\u00a0 She is M. Night Shyamalan’s daughter and a singer\/songwriter.\u00a0 Saleka wrote and performed all of the songs in the movie.\u00a0 The official Trap<\/em> movie soundtrack is titled Lady Raven<\/em> and features all of the songs from the movie.<\/p>\n

The concert feels real.\u00a0 Kudos to M. Night, Saleka and all involved.<\/p>\n

Some aspects come off as very contrived, but M. Night Shyamalan is adept at keeping things moving.\u00a0 This way viewers go with the flow.\u00a0 I was expecting Cooper to get caught or escape then fade to credits.\u00a0 M. Night Shyamalan had a different idea.\u00a0 There’s no big twist (as in some of his films) but there are some unexpected turns.\u00a0 I enjoyed the ride.<\/p>\n
