Two turn others and now there are four.\u00a0 As the number of vampires grow, only a few people realize (believe) what is happening.\u00a0 Ben Mears (Soul), his new girlfriend Susan (Bedelia), aging school teacher Jason Bruke (Ayers) and young Mark Petrie (Kerwin).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What chance do they have against the living dead?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Thoughts (beware of spoilers)\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Salem&#8217;s Lot<\/em> was nominated for three 1980 <em>Primetime Emmy Awards<\/em>&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nominee for <em>Outstanding Achievement in Graphic Design and Title Sequences<\/em>: <strong>Gene Kraft<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Nominee for <em>Outstanding Achievement in Makeup<\/em>: <strong>Ben Lane, Jack H. Young<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Nominee for <em>Outstanding Achievement in Music Composition for a Limited Series or a Special (Dramatic Underscore)<\/em>: <strong>Harry Sukman<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Salem&#8217;s Lot<\/em> was originally developed as a feature film with George <em>&#8220;Night of the Living Dead&#8221;<\/em> Romero set to direct.\u00a0 When <em>Dracula<\/em> (1979) and<em> Nosferatu the Vampyre<\/em> (1979) were announced, Warner Bros. decided to make <em>Salem&#8217;s Lot<\/em> as a two episode mini-series.\u00a0 Romero then dropped out.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tobe Hooper came on board as a director.\u00a0 He realized as a tv project, he would be severely limited to the amount of blood\/gore.\u00a0 He therefore focused on creating atmosphere and tension.\u00a0<em> Salem&#8217;s Lot<\/em> is better for it.
