{"id":37816,"date":"2024-11-25T20:04:36","date_gmt":"2024-11-26T01:04:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=37816"},"modified":"2024-11-28T20:30:09","modified_gmt":"2024-11-29T01:30:09","slug":"rip-earl-holliman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=37816","title":{"rendered":"RIP: Earl Holliman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2024\/z112624rip_earl_holliman.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"547\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was announced that Earl Holliman died today, at the age of 96.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When Earl Holliman was a teenager he saved his money from his jobs as a theater usher, paperboy and magician&#8217;s assistant.\u00a0 He then went to Hollywood.\u00a0 He lasted a week before his money ran out and he returned to his home in Louisiana.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">His adoptive mother had remarried after her first husband died.\u00a0 Earl didn&#8217;t get along with his new stepfather.\u00a0 World War II was underway.\u00a0 Earl lied about his age and went into the Navy.\u00a0 A year into his enlistment, the Navy discovered Earl&#8217;s true age and he was sent home.\u00a0 Earl finished his high school education, graduated with honors and was his senior class president.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Now old enough to enlist, Earl reupped with the Navy.\u00a0 While in the Navy, Mr. Holliman was cast in the lead of several Norfolk Navy productions.\u00a0 After leaving the navy, Mr. Holliman moved to California.\u00a0 He studied acting and graduated from UCLA.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Holliman bluffed his way onto the Paramount lot.\u00a0 Over time he made some connections and got his first part. (and later Lt.) Bill Crowley on <em>Police Woman<\/em>. Then his part in <em>Forbidden Planet<\/em>.\u00a0 As an adult I&#8217;ve loved seeing Earl Holliman in noirs such as <em>The Big Combo<\/em> and<em> I Died a Thousand Times<\/em>.\u00a0 Whatever he was in, Mr. Holliman made it better.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Out thoughts and prayers go out to Earl Holliman&#8217;s family, friends and fans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was announced that Earl Holliman died today, at the age of 96.
