Angela has always used her good looks to get what she wants. Everyone (including Tommy) knows letting Angela move back in is a bad idea.\u00a0 Tommy&#8217;s just too in love with her not to try.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8230; accidents on the job.\u00a0 Men get injured and some killed.\u00a0 Tommy has to navigate making sure the men are taken care of and the company maximizes profits.\u00a0 These two things don&#8217;t always align.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8230; cartels using the oil fields for drug deals.\u00a0 When a drug shipment is destroyed, the cartel boss tells Tommy the oil company must pay.\u00a0 \u00a0This puts a target on Tommy&#8217;s back.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8230; a hotshot young attorney, brought in by Monty.\u00a0 She immediately takes a dislike to Tommy.\u00a0 He feels the same towards her.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8230; escalating troubles with the cartel.\u00a0 Jimenez, the midlevel Mexican crime boss, sees Tommy as the problem.\u00a0 Jimenez is used to eliminating problems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong style=\"font-size: inherit; color: var(--text-color); font-family: var(--text-font);\">Thoughts (beware of spoilers)\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We all know Taylor Sheridan can write and direct.\u00a0 He also attracts others at the top of their fields to assist with those chores when he doesn&#8217;t himself.\u00a0 For <em>Landman Season 1<\/em>, Sheridan writes every episode and directs the first two.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stephen Kay helms six of the ten episodes.\u00a0 Kay is known for directing episodes of <em>The Shield, Sons of Anarchy, The Punisher, Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness, 1883, 1923<\/em> and one of my favorite films, <em>Get Carter (2000)<\/em>.\u00a0 Michael Friedman directs two episodes of <em>Landman<\/em>.\u00a0 He&#8217;s known for direction on <em>Lioness<\/em> and <em>Yellowstone<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The casting from the biggest to the smallest roles is on point.\u00a0 Standouts include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Billy Bob Thorton<\/strong> was born to play Tommy Norris.\u00a0 Thorton is an excellent actor, and I&#8217;ve loved him in several roles.\u00a0 This may be my favorite.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ali Larter<\/strong> is excellent in a role that I love to dislike.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Michelle Randolph<\/strong> plays Elizabeth Strafford in <em>1923<\/em>.\u00a0 What a different character than the one she plays in <em>Landman<\/em>.\u00a0 She&#8217;s excellent in both.\u00a0 I guess that&#8217;s why they call it acting.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Jacob Lofland\u00a0<\/strong>is more than holding his own.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve seen Lofland before in <em>Mud<\/em> and <em>Justified<\/em>, but in <em>Landman<\/em> he shines.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Paulina Chavez<\/strong> has to walk a fine line in her role.\u00a0 It would be easy to not like her character, but Chavez is doing a great job to get across the inner struggles of her choices.\u00a0 The scene with her character telling Tommy she won&#8217;t be disrespected is a winner.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Kayla Wallace <\/strong>owns her role as the lawyer who goes for the throat in every interaction.\u00a0 I&#8217;d never seen Wallace before in anything, but she&#8217;s one to watch.\u00a0 Check out the scene when she tells the room full of attorneys, &#8220;This isn&#8217;t a negotiation&#8230;&#8221;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>James Jordan\u00a0<\/strong>is fun to watch.\u00a0 He has a supporting role in this and <em>Lioness<\/em>.\u00a0 He helps make both shows so good.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Jon Hamm\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; who doesn&#8217;t enjoy Jon Hamm&#8217;s acting.\u00a0 He brings it every time out.\u00a0 Hamm is very believable as the billionaire in danger of losing it all, but not afraid to take a risk.\u00a0 It&#8217;d be easy to play this guy either &#8220;too cool for school&#8221; or &#8220;unsure of what to do next&#8221; &#8212; Hamm has the right mix.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Colm Feore<\/strong> &#8211; I&#8217;ve loved him in every scene he&#8217;s in.\u00a0 Great addition to the show.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Michael Pe\u00f1a, Emilio Rivera<\/strong> and <strong>Andy Garc\u00eda &#8211; <\/strong>had small but impactful roles.\u00a0 It&#8217;s always nice when the right people are placed in every role.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Demi Moore<\/strong> &#8211; I think her role is going to become even more important in Season 2.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Taylor Sheridan has another winner.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: inherit;
