A betrayal that cannot be forgiven.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The Plot&#8230;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Jay Cochran was a Navy jet pilot.\u00a0 He recently retired early.\u00a0 Now Jay&#8217;s time is his own.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Jay decides to accept an invitation to visit his wealthy friend Tiburon &#8220;Tibey&#8221; Mendez in Mexico.\u00a0 Jay is warned that Mendez is a reputed crime boss.\u00a0 Jay isn&#8217;t concerned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When Jay arrives at Tibey&#8217;s estate he is met by Cesar, Tibey&#8217;s right-hand man.\u00a0 Jay is admonished for being late.\u00a0 Jay responds, that he&#8217;s a guest, not an employee.\u00a0 This doesn&#8217;t sit well with Cesar.\u00a0 Jay sees armed guards positioned throughout the estate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tibey is legitimately happy to see Jay.\u00a0 Although Tibey is much older than Jay, their friendship is genuine.\u00a0 Jay is formally introduced to Mireya, Tibey&#8217;s wife.\u00a0 She&#8217;s beautiful.\u00a0 And much younger than Tibey.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During Jay&#8217;s visit, his independent attitude doesn&#8217;t sit well with Cesar.\u00a0 At a dinner thrown by Tibey, two of the guests try to provoke Jay.\u00a0 Jay doesn&#8217;t back down and his answers could be seen as poking fun.\u00a0 After dinner, Tibey has a private meeting with the two men.\u00a0 They are surprised when Tibey takes Jay&#8217;s side.\u00a0 The penalty for insulting Tibey&#8217;s friend is severe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Jay and Mireya begin spending more time together.\u00a0 The attraction between the two is undeniable.\u00a0 As they become closer, the inevitable happens.\u00a0 Shortly after, Jay says that he must go.\u00a0 Mireya begs him to stay.\u00a0 They decide to leave together.\u00a0 Both understand that if Tibey discovers their affair, his revenge would be savage.\u00a0 Tibey&#8217;s response to the slightest offense is always extreme.\u00a0 To be betrayed by his wife and best friend would require an unimaginable response of violence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Jay and Mireya plan their getaway.\u00a0 They&#8217;re unaware that Tibey knows everything.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thoughts (beware of spoilers)\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The sex scenes between Costner and Stowe were totally improvised.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Before Tony Scott was brought on to direct, John Huston was considered.\u00a0 Huston didn&#8217;t want Costner to star.\u00a0 Huston wanted Jack Nicholson to play Tibey.\u00a0 When Huston left the project, Orson Welles was considered to helm the project.\u00a0 Costner considered directing it himself.\u00a0 Ultimately he served as Executive Producer and star.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Anthony Quinn and Madeline Stowe play husband and wife in <em>Revenge<\/em>.\u00a0 In 2002, they re-teamed in Sly Stallone&#8217;s <em>Avenging Angelo<\/em>.\u00a0 There they play father and daughter in what turned out to be Quinn&#8217;s final film.<\/p>\n<p>Tony Scott said that <em>Revenge<\/em> was his favorite film that he directed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">James Gammon is memorable in a small but important role.\u00a0 Same for Miguel Ferrer and John Leguizamo.<\/p>\n<p><em>Revenge<\/em> is one of my all-time favorite films.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: inherit;
