The Plot…<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Ethan Hunt is contacted by the President of the United States.\u00a0 The Entity (a powerful artificial intelligence) has\u00a0 started taking control of each country’s nuclear arsenal.\u00a0 In just a short period of time, the Entity will command every nuclear weapon in the world.\u00a0 Including all those held by the United States.<\/p>\n

The Entity, once secure in a bunker safe from nuclear and electromagnetic fallout will launch every country’s nuclear bomb.\u00a0 This will wipe out almost all of humanity.\u00a0 The few who survive will restart the world under the direction of the Entity.<\/p>\n

Ethan Hunt has a key to the Entity’s source code.\u00a0 But that is just part of the potential solution.\u00a0 The President wants the source code key.<\/p>\n

Ethan has another plan.\u00a0 A plan that, if it works, would render the Entity powerless.\u00a0 But, and this is a HUGE (pardon the pun) but, the odds of Ethan’s plan working are minute.\u00a0 The lives of every person on the planet hang in the balance.<\/p>\n

Thoughts (beware of spoilers)\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

With Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning<\/em>, Tom Cruise earned his second Guinness World Record.\u00a0 The first was for being the actor with the most consecutive $100-million grossing movies.\u00a0 The second was for the most burning parachute jumps by an individual (16).<\/p>\n

The action is all-out and way over the top.\u00a0 It matches the plot.\u00a0 The expectation for every Mission Impossible<\/em> movie is it ups the ante on both.\u00a0 Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning<\/em> succeeds.\u00a0 Unless Ethan Hunt was to save the entire universe, it is appropriate that the series ends here.<\/p>\n

Esai Morales makes a great villain.\u00a0 He’s one cocky scoundrel.<\/p>\n

Shea Whigham is always good.<\/p>\n

Congratulations to Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie the driving forces behind the success of the Mission Impossible<\/em> franchise.\u00a0 It was a great run.<\/p>\n

Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning<\/em> features breathtaking stunts, repeated last minute “saves”, a lot of running, ever mounting problems and death-defying solution after death-defying solution.\u00a0 Too much of a good thing?\u00a0 Maybe for some.\u00a0 But just what I expected for the franchise finale.\u00a0 They stuck the landing.<\/p>\n
