So far, three people are dead because of him.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Plot\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Harry Caul is an audio recording specialist.\u00a0 Perhaps the best in the business.\u00a0 That&#8217;s why Harry is hired to secretly record conversations for high priced clients.\u00a0 Harry says he doesn&#8217;t care how the recordings are used once he turns them over.\u00a0 Truth is Harry feels guilty that some of his recordings may have led to the murders of three people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When on his current job Harry pieces together muffled audio, the conversation indicates someone is going to be murdered.\u00a0 Now Harry feels it is his responsibility to stop the killing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong style=\"font-size: inherit; color: var(--text-color); font-family: var(--text-font);\">Thoughts (beware of spoilers)\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Conversation was nominated for three 1975 <em>Academy Awards<\/em>&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nominee for <em>Best Sound<\/em> &#8211; <strong>Walter Murch, Art Rochester<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Nominee for <em>Best Writing, Original Screenplay<\/em> &#8211; <strong>Francis Ford Coppola<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Nominee for <em>Best Picture<\/em> &#8211;<strong>Francis Ford Coppola<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Francis Ford Coppola&#8217;s screenplay for <em>The Conversation<\/em>, written in 1966, couldn&#8217;t get financing until his success with <em>The Godfather.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Harrison Ford&#8217;s part was originally written as a cameo.\u00a0 His character didn&#8217;t even have a name.\u00a0 Ford&#8217;s suggestion to play the character as gay (an unusual choice in 1974) and his suggestions to Coppola, led to the part being expanded.<\/p>\n<p>Gene Hackman and Terri Garr would also appear together in<em> Young Frankenstein<\/em> the same year.<\/p>\n<p>Most folks rate <em>The Conversation<\/em> higher than me.\u00a0 It currently has a 7.7 rating on IMDB and on Rotten Tomatoes it has a 94% reviewers rating and 89% users&#8217; rating.
