Frank Mir<\/strong> is one of my favorite mixed martial arts fighters<\/strong>.\u00a0 I like him because he’s talented<\/strong>, has a great work ethic<\/strong>, is intelligent<\/strong>, speaks his mind<\/strong> and came back from a devastating motorcycle injury that would have retired lesser men.\u00a0 So it disappoints me to report that Mir said in an interview<\/strong><\/a>…<\/p>\n

I want to fight Lesnar. I hate who he is as a person. I want to break his neck in the ring. I want him to be the first person that dies due to Octagon-related injuries. <\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Of course the comments Mir<\/strong> made were extreme<\/strong>.\u00a0 I get that Mir<\/strong> doesn’t like Lesnar<\/strong>.\u00a0 Without a doubt Lesnar’s antics<\/strong> after winning the second fight with Mir<\/strong> [getting in his face, yelling at him, etc.] fueled Mir’s dislike<\/strong>.\u00a0 But did Lesnar’s childish taunts<\/strong> warrant Frank<\/strong> wanting to break his neck<\/strong> or hope that Lesnar<\/strong> becomes the first to die<\/strong> in the octagon?\u00a0 Of course not.<\/p>\n

As you can imagine, Mir’s comments didn’t go over well with most fans and definitely ticked off <\/strong>UFC<\/strong> president Dana White<\/strong><\/a> who responded to Mir’s comments<\/strong> with:<\/p>\n

“Mir is a [expletive] idiot! I have never heard something so unprofessional and idiotic in my life.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While it’s true that Dana White<\/strong> has made his share of unprofessional comments<\/strong>, it doesn’t change the fact that Mir<\/strong> joined the club with his rant.\u00a0 But Frank Mir<\/strong> is no idiot.\u00a0 In fact, he comes off as a pretty intelligent guy<\/strong>.\u00a0 He’s no thug.<\/p>\n

It’s been announced that Mir<\/strong> will issue a statement later today.\u00a0 My guess is that Mir<\/strong> will say that he’s sorry<\/strong> for the comments that he made and that he really doesn’t want to break <\/strong>Lesnar’s neck<\/strong> or for him to be killed in the octagon<\/strong>.\u00a0 I have no doubt that is the truth.<\/p>\n

I also have no doubt that Mir<\/strong> really wants to fight Lesnar<\/strong> for a third time.\u00a0 And that’s just another reason that Frank Mir<\/strong> is one of my favorite fighters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
