The Plot…<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bob and his sixteen year old daughter, Willa live off the grid in California.\u00a0 Bob’s a stoner and over-protective of Willa.<\/p>\n

But for good reason.<\/p>\n

Seventeen years ago, Bob’s real name was Pat.\u00a0 Pat was a member of a revolutionary group that robbed banks, broke immigrants out of detention centers and bombed military instilations.\u00a0 Willa’s mother was also a member of the militant group.\u00a0 She abandoned Pat and Willa when she fled to Mexico to avoid prison.<\/p>\n

Bob and Willa’s peaceful existence is about to be shattered.\u00a0 Colonel Steven J. Lockjaw, for secret personal reasons, wants Willa dead.<\/p>\n

Lockjaw has the might of the US military at his disposal… and he’s closing in.<\/p>\n

Thoughts (beware of spoilers)\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

One Battle After Another<\/em> made more critics’ annual “best of”<\/em> lists in 2025 than any other film, including the most 1st-place votes.<\/p>\n

One Battle After Another\u00a0<\/em>features Chase Infiniti’s film debut.\u00a0 She is excellent.<\/p>\n

Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio Del Toro and Teyana Taylor are perfectly cast.\u00a0 Sean Penn, who is always excellent, deserves an Academy Award for his performance as Col. Lockjaw.<\/p>\n

One Battle After Another\u00a0<\/em>is an excellent film.\u00a0 It features over-the-top characters and outlandish situations.\u00a0 It’s full of action with the right amount of humor.\u00a0 I wouldn’t argue with anyone calling it their #1 film of the year (although I’d go with Sinners<\/em>).\u00a0 The acting, directing and writing is excellent.\u00a0 However, I don’t feel that One Battle After Another<\/em> is a film I’ll often revisit.\u00a0 Your mileage as always may vary.<\/p>\n
