Count it again. Count on no one.<\/em><\/p>\n The Plot…<\/strong><\/p>\n Rumors of crooked cops in the Miami-Dade Police Department are gaining traction.\u00a0 When Captain Jackie Velez is murdered, suspicion falls on her Tactical Narcotics Team.\u00a0 The TNT consists of Lieutenant Dane Dumars and Detectives J.D. Byrne, Mike Ro, Numa Baptiste, and Lolo Salazar.\u00a0 One or more of them may be dirty.<\/p>\n Just before the end of the day, Dumars recieves a tip about a house in a new subdivision containing drug money.\u00a0 It is the only occupied house in the area.\u00a0 Dumars informs the team that it is supposed to contain $100,000 to $200,00 in cartel cash.<\/p>\n Desi Molina answers the door.\u00a0 Desi is a young woman who recently inherited the house from her grandmother.\u00a0 She lives alone.\u00a0 Desi reluctantly lets the team in.\u00a0 The search of the house reveals a hidden space in the attic.\u00a0 The team discovers $20 million dollars in cash.<\/p>\n Lieutenant Dumars tells the team that they are not going to follow standard protocal.\u00a0 Normally they would call in the location and amount of the seizure.\u00a0 Dumars says he’s worried about crooked cops.\u00a0 Dumars orders the team to give him their cell phones.\u00a0 One or more of them could be crooked.\u00a0 Or is Dumars one of the bad cops?<\/p>\n Then a call comes to the house. Dumars answers.\u00a0 The voice on the other end says to take the amount of money called in and leave the rest.\u00a0 They have 30 minutes to comply.\u00a0 If they don’t everyone in the house will be executed.<\/p>\n Dumars and the team aren’t sure how to proceed.\u00a0 Was it the cartel or dirty cops calling?\u00a0 How did they know the money had been found?\u00a0 Who can they trust?\u00a0 What is the best thing to do?<\/p>\n The clock is ticking…<\/p>\n Thoughts (beware of spoilers)\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n I went in to The Rip<\/em> thinking it would be good.\u00a0 I was wrong.\u00a0 It was great.\u00a0 I absolutely loved it.\u00a0 Writer\/director Joe Carnahan has crafted a story that has mystery, tension, suspense and action.\u00a0 Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are joined by Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Sasha Calle, and Kyle Chandler.\u00a0 All are perfectly cast.<\/p>\n I love the mystery of who to trust.\u00a0 The tension continues to mount as the minutes tick off.\u00a0 Trapped with a team that may not have your back in a deserted subivision.\u00a0 Afraid to call back-up because of dirty cops with the cartel closing in.<\/p>\n The Rip<\/em> gets my highest recommendation.<\/p>\n The Rip <\/strong><\/em>(2026) rates 5 of 5 stars.
