{"id":41138,"date":"2026-02-16T17:22:01","date_gmt":"2026-02-16T22:22:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=41138"},"modified":"2026-02-17T18:52:16","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T23:52:16","slug":"rip-robert-duvall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=41138","title":{"rendered":"RIP: Robert Duvall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2026\/z021626rip_robert_duvall.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"358\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Robert Duvall died yesterday at the age of 95.\u00a0 No cause of death was given.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Robert Duvall&#8217;s mother was an amateur actress and his father a Rear Admiral in the US Navy.\u00a0 Mr. Duvall graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in drama from Principia College in Elsah, Illinois.\u00a0 He then served in the US Army.\u00a0 During his stint in the service, Mr. Duvall acted in amateur production.\u00a0 He felt he had found something he was good at.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Duvall then, on the GI Bill, studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York City.\u00a0 Fellow classmates included James Caan as well as Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman who also became roomates with him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Duvall&#8217;s professional acting career began doing summer theater at the Gateway Playhouse in Bellport, Long Island, New York.\u00a0 He played a pilot in <em>Laughter in the Stars.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>Many other stage roles and bigger parts followed.\u00a0 Mr. Duvall&#8217;s first television role was\u00a0on <em>Armstrong Circle Theater<\/em> in the episode titled <em>The Jailbreak<\/em>.\u00a0 \u00a0His first feature film role was as Boo Radley in <em>To Kill a Mockingbird<\/em>.\u00a0 By this time Robert Duvall was making regular guest appearances on television.\u00a0 Soon after, his career would take off in feature films.\u00a0 He was equally adept at lead or supporting roles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Over the course of his career Robert Duvall continued to act, direct, write and produce.\u00a0 Some of the Awards he was nominated for and\/or received include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">1973 <em>Academy Award<\/em> Nominee as<em>\u00a0Best Actor in a Supporting Role<\/em> for <em>The Godfather<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>1980 <em>Academy<\/em>\u00a0<em>Award<\/em> Nominee as<em> Best Actor in a Supporting Role<\/em> for <em>Apocalypse Now<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">1980<em> Golden Globe<\/em> <strong>Winner<\/strong> as <em>Best Actor in a Supporting Role &#8211;
