The Plot…<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tura Satana, the actress best known for her role as Varla in the cult classic Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!<\/em> had a life that is hard to believe.\u00a0 Raped as a child, Tura learned the martial arts in order to get revenge on the men who abused her since justice was denied in the courts.\u00a0 As an adult, Tura got revenge on each individual who had assaulted her.<\/p>\n

But that would come later in life.<\/p>\n

At fifteen, Tura ran away to California.\u00a0 She lied about her age and began working as a burlesque dancer.\u00a0 Soon Tura was making big money as a stripper.\u00a0 This led to a friendship with Harold Lloyd (yes, THAT Harold Lloyd of silent movie fame).\u00a0 Tura became a nude model for Lloyd (and others).<\/p>\n

Then came her acting career with roles in Irma la Douce<\/em> staring Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine and Who’s Been Sleeping in My Bed?<\/em> starring Dean Martin and Elizabeth Montgomery.\u00a0 Television roles on Burke’s Law<\/em> and The Man from UNCLE<\/em> followed.\u00a0 Then came Tura’s breakout role in Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>After that Tura appeared in just four more films and one television appearance before retiring from acting.<\/p>\n

After the filming of The Doll Squad,<\/em> Tura was shot by a former lover.\u00a0 Her acting career was finished… for now.\u00a0 Over the years Tura earned a living working in a hospital and later as a dispatcher.\u00a0 When Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!<\/em> gained new popularity as a cult hit, Tura Santana’s popularity also surged.\u00a0 She began to occassionally act and make appearances at fan conventions.<\/p>\n

It’s hard to believe Tura’s life story… even the parts that are easily proven.\u00a0 So we’ll go with the famous saying, (and I’m parphrasing), “When the legend is better than the truth, go with the legend.”<\/p>\n
