Director:\u00a0 Fran\u00e7ois Truffaut<\/strong><\/p>\n Screenplay: Fran\u00e7ois Truffaut, Marcel Moussy; <\/strong>based on DOWN THERE<\/a> (aka SHOOT THE PIANO PLAYER<\/a>)\u00a0<\/em>by David Goodis<\/strong><\/p>\n Stars: Charles Aznavour, Marie Dubois, Nicole Berger, Mich\u00e8le Mercier <\/strong>and Albert R\u00e9my<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n Tagline: A Film for Adults<\/em><\/p>\n The Plot…<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n Charlie Koller is a piano player in a small jazz club.\u00a0 Charlie \u00a0comes in each night, plays the piano and keeps to himself.\u00a0 He’s a low key guy.\u00a0 L\u00e9na, a waitress at the club, is starting to fall in love with Charlie.\u00a0 Although L\u00e9na knows a bit about Charlie’s past, she keeps it secret.<\/p>\n One night when Charlie is playing, a man comes rushing in the club. The man is Charlie’s estranged brother.\u00a0 He’s on the run from two thugs who aren’t far behind.\u00a0 Although Charlie wants no part of his brother’s problem, he can’t stand by and do nothing.\u00a0 The choice to get involved will bring forth the past Charlie has kept hidden and result in several murders.<\/p>\n Thoughts (beware of spoilers)\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n Although based on David Goodis\u2019 excellent novel, DOWN THERE, the screenplay makes significant changes to the protagonist.\u00a0 In the movie his name is Charlie, in the novel it is Eddie.
