Soles, Michael Talbott <\/strong>and<strong> John Travolta.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tagline:\u00a0 <em>If you&#8217;ve got a taste for terror&#8230; take Carrie to the prom.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The Plot&#8230;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">High school is almost unbearable for Carrie.\u00a0 She&#8217;s sixteen, immature and an easy target.\u00a0 At school Carrie is bullied daily.\u00a0 Her home life isn&#8217;t any better.\u00a0 Carrie is being raised by a single mother who is a religious zealot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A particularly rough hazing incident in the PE showers leaves Carrie sobbing on the floor. Sue, one of the school&#8217;s most popular girls, feels remorse for her involvement. So she asks her boyfriend, Tommy Ross (also one of the cool kids) to take Carrie to the prom.\u00a0 Sue thinks that if Carrie is seen on a date with Tommy other kids might start viewing Carrie differently.\u00a0 Tom eventually agrees.<\/p>\n<p>At first Carrie thinks she&#8217;s being set up.\u00a0 Tommy finally convinces Carrie he&#8217;s sincere.\u00a0 Carrie agrees to go despite her mother&#8217;s refusal to allow the date.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What Sue, Tommy and Carrie don&#8217;t know is that Chris, one of the girls involved in the PE incident, has a plan to humiliate Carrie at the Prom.\u00a0 Chris has no idea how badly her &#8220;prank&#8221; can go.\u00a0 She also has no idea that Carrie recently discovered she has telekinetic powers.<\/p>\n<p>Time for the prom.\u00a0 It will be a night you&#8217;ll never forget.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thoughts (beware of spoilers)\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Although the ending of the movie is different than Stephen King&#8217;s book, King has said he like the movie&#8217;s ending better.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sue Snell is played by Amy Irving.\u00a0 Sue&#8217;s mother is played by Priscilla Pointer&#8230; who is Amy Irving&#8217;s real life mother.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">John Travolta, who was a teen idol thanks to his role on <em>Welcome Back Kotter<\/em>, has a small role but was billed second on posters\/ads.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Carrie may look perfectly innocent, but she&#8217;ll shock you right out of your seat&#8230; and that&#8217;s a promise!<\/p>\n<p>Sissy Spacek was in real life a high school Homecoming Queen.<\/p>\n<p><em>Carrie<\/em> features Amy Irving&#8217;s feature film debut.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I had read the Stephen King novel a few years prior to seeing the movie.\u00a0 When the film came out I was a junior in high school.\u00a0 I saw it with a date at a midnight showing.\u00a0 I thought the film was ready to roll the end credits.\u00a0 Then the final scare comes.\u00a0 It caught me so off guard I jumped out of my seat.\u00a0 Yeah, try playing that off with your date.\u00a0 No, I wasn&#8217;t scared.\u00a0 Really.<\/p>\n<p>One of Carrie&#8217;s taglines was: <em>Carrie may look perfectly innocent, but she&#8217;ll shock you right out of your seat&#8230; and that&#8217;s a promise!\u00a0\u00a0<\/em> In my case, promise kept.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: inherit; color: initial;\"><strong><i>Carrie <\/i>(1976)<\/strong> rates 5 of 5 stars.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/logo\/zview_a.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"100\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2026\/z061626zview_carrie2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"274\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Carrie (1976) Director: Brian De Palma Screenplay: Lawrence D.
