He&#8217;s &#8220;The Hammer&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The Plot&#8230;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">PI, Mike Hammer gets word that Jack Williams, an old army buddy, was murdered.\u00a0 Jack lost his arm saving Mike during the war.\u00a0 Despite being warned off by the cops, Hammer decides to look into Mike&#8217;s murder.\u00a0 Hammer hopes to find the killer before the cops.\u00a0 That way he can make sure justice is served.<\/p>\n<p>The leads point to a sex clinic, the C.I.A., mobsters and a psycho killer.<\/p>\n<p>The movie is <em>I, the Jury<\/em> and court is in session.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Thoughts (beware of spoilers)\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>I, the Jury<\/em> features Armand Assante in his first feature film starring role.\u00a0 Assante makes a great Mike Hammer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Larry Cohen, the screenwriter also started as the film&#8217;s director.\u00a0 He was replaced after six days of shooting since he was already $100,000 and a day over budget.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>I, the Jury<\/em> is based on Mickey Spillane&#8217;s classic novel.\u00a0 Changes to the film include setting it in the 1980s, adding the CIA\/Mafia subplot and more.\u00a0 Thankfully Hammer&#8217;s final line in the novel was kept for the movie.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Larry Cohen planned to do a trilogy of Mike Hammer films since he had the rights to two other Hammer novels by Spillane.\u00a0 Sadly, this never happened.<\/p>\n<p>Laurene Landon is excellent as Hammer&#8217;s secretary Velda.<\/p>\n<p><em>I, the Jury<\/em> features one of my all-time favorite movie posters.\u00a0 It was created by Drew Struzan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: inherit; color: initial;\"><strong><i>I, the Jury <\/i>(1982)<\/strong> rates 4 of 5 stars.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/logo\/zview_b.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"100\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2026\/z082826review_itj2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I, the Jury (1982) Director: Richard T.
