The Green Pastures<\/em> was one of only six feature films in the Hollywood Studio era to feature an all-black cast.\u00a0 They were Hallelujah!<\/em> (1929); Hearts in Dixie<\/em> (1929); The Green Pastures<\/em> (1936); Cabin in the Sky<\/em> (1943); Stormy Weather<\/em> (1943) and Carmen Jones<\/em> (1954).<\/p>\n

The Green Pastures<\/em> was banned in Australia, Finland and Hungary because in the film God is shown as dark-skinned.<\/p>\n

The Green Pastures <\/em> was based on the novel OL’ MAN ADAM AN’ HIS CHILLUN by Roark Bradford<\/strong> and the Ol’ Man Adam an’ His Chillun<\/em> Pulitzer Prizing winning Broadway stage play by Marc Connelly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
