First sentence\u2026<\/p>\n

The blonde dame in the sleeper car window was damn near naked in front of the mirror on the back of her closed door, and ready to finish the job.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Overview:\u00a0 Beware of Spoilers\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

World War II is over.\u00a0 Mike Hammer made it back.\u00a0 Many of his fellow soldiers didn’t.\u00a0 Now a civilian, Hammer has a promise to keep.<\/p>\n

Which is why he sneaks under a train and rides into Killington on the sly.\u00a0 As Hammer exits from under the train, through a window in a car across the tracks, he spies a woman undressing.\u00a0 \u00a0She’s a looker, but Hammer isn’t a Peeping Tom<\/em> and wants to get out of there before the railyard cops catch him.<\/p>\n

So Hammer scoots.<\/p>\n

But it isn’t long before Hammer is picked up for murder.\u00a0 The murder of the woman he saw in the railyard.\u00a0 The cops get rough trying to get Hammer to confess.\u00a0 Things look bad.\u00a0 He was in the railyard.\u00a0 He saw the woman.\u00a0 He has no alibi.<\/p>\n

And then the cops turn Hammer loose.\u00a0 Melba Charles, Senator Charles’ beautiful daughter says that Hammer was with her at the time of the murder.\u00a0 In fact, she says she and Hammer are soon to be married!<\/p>\n

Hammer is happy to be free.\u00a0 He came to Killington to keep a promise.\u00a0 That’ll get done after.\u00a0 Now he needs to find the mystery woman’s killer.\u00a0 But first he needs to meet his future bride and find out why she provided an alibi for a man she’d never met.<\/p>\n

KILLING TOWN takes place before Mike Hammer became a private eye.\u00a0 It was actually an unfinished novel that Mickey Spillane started but never finished.\u00a0 Max Allan Collins, Spillane’s friend was selected by Spillane to complete the tale.<\/p>\n

KILLING TOWN is my one of my favorite Mike Hammer tales… on par with I, THE JURY.\u00a0 (And I don’t say that lightly.)<\/p>\n
