{"id":4310,"date":"2010-04-11T20:01:43","date_gmt":"2010-04-12T00:01:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=4310"},"modified":"2022-03-15T22:54:06","modified_gmt":"2022-03-16T02:54:06","slug":"whats-anderson-silva-to-do","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=4310","title":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s Anderson Silva to Do?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2010\/z041110anderson_silva.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"341\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you&#8217;re an <strong>MMA fan<\/strong>, then you&#8217;re probably aware of the <strong>controversy<\/strong> surrounding <strong>Anderson Silva&#8217;s unanimous decision<\/strong> win over <strong>Damian Maia<\/strong>.\u00a0 <strong>Dana White has repeatedly apologized<\/strong> for <strong>Silva&#8217;s performance<\/strong> and went on to say:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ve ever been more embarrassed in the ten years of being in this business.&#8221; <\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is the <strong>third performance<\/strong> by <strong>Silva<\/strong> that has resulted in the same type of<strong> clowning and showboating<\/strong>.\u00a0 Some are blaming the <strong>lack of competition<\/strong> for <strong>Silva<\/strong> in the <strong>middleweight division<\/strong>.\u00a0 Others say <strong>Silva<\/strong> has an obligation to be serious and to <strong>finish fights<\/strong>.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s my take on the situation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">If <strong>Silva<\/strong> <strong>is dissatisfied with the opponents <\/strong>available in the division, then move down or up a weight class. \u00a0 To take a fight and then clown and showboat is <strong>disrespectful<\/strong> to his opponent and to the fans who paid to watch the fight.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">If <strong>Silva is content <\/strong>to stay on his feet and strike, that is his choice.\u00a0 He is the <strong>champion<\/strong>.\u00a0 <strong>Silva is not obligated<\/strong> to go to the mat or <strong>change his style<\/strong> to make for a more exciting fight.\u00a0 <strong>If Silva is content<\/strong> to <strong>win by decisions<\/strong>, to <strong>not finish fights<\/strong>, to keep himself out of dangerous situations, <strong>that is his right<\/strong>.\u00a0 Fans may <strong>find the fights boring<\/strong> and <strong>decide not to buy<\/strong> his pay-per-views and <strong>that is their right<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Silva is a world class athlete<\/strong>.\u00a0 He has been called the <strong>best pound-per-pound fighter<\/strong> in the world.\u00a0 He may be, but if he continues to<strong> showboat and disrespect his opponents and fans<\/strong>, his popularity will take a nosedive.\u00a0 He&#8217;ll be consider a <strong>world class<\/strong>, well, it won&#8217;t be athlete.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So what&#8217;s next for <strong>Anderson Silva<\/strong>?\u00a0 Some say <strong>GSP<\/strong>.\u00a0 <strong>Dana White<\/strong> said he&#8217;s not interested in that fight.\u00a0 <strong>Chael Sonnen<\/strong> <strong>says he&#8217;d like a shot at Silva<\/strong>.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mmafighting.com\/2010\/04\/11\/anderson-silva-should-move-to-heavyweight\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Michael David Smith at MMAFighting.com thinks<\/strong><\/a> <strong>Silva <\/strong>should move to<strong> heavyweight<\/strong> and give <strong>Frank Mir <\/strong>a try.\u00a0 I wonder if <strong>Mir<\/strong> would want the opportunity?
