A couple of days ago when I was looking for art to accompany my post about Frank Frazetta’s passing<\/strong><\/a>, I considered a ton of pieces.\u00a0 The decision was a tough one because Mr. Frazetta<\/strong> had created so many iconic images<\/strong> throughout his career and because so many had made such an impression on me.\u00a0 One that I had considered was the Judge Dredd<\/strong><\/em> cover that Frazetta<\/strong> had painted for Mad<\/strong><\/em> magazine.\u00a0 I thought that the cover might be an interesting choice since it had a Sly Stallone<\/strong> connection.\u00a0 Ultimately, I decided against it.<\/p>\n

Today, as I was reading Mark Evanier’s blog<\/strong><\/a>, I came across a piece about Frank Frazetta<\/strong> that included a story about how that Mad<\/strong><\/em> cover came to be and why the painting’s background had to be yellow.\u00a0 It’s an interesting post<\/strong><\/a> even if you’re not a Stallone<\/strong> or Judge Dredd<\/strong><\/em> fan, but even more so if you are.\u00a0 Plus it gave me the opportunity to post the Frazetta\/Stallone<\/strong> connection art.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
