{"id":4461,"date":"2010-05-25T01:08:22","date_gmt":"2010-05-25T05:08:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=4461"},"modified":"2021-03-18T11:21:42","modified_gmt":"2021-03-18T15:21:42","slug":"tvs-most-shocking-moments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=4461","title":{"rendered":"TV&#8217;s Most Shocking Moments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2010\/z05252010tv_shocking.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"367\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Recently <strong>TV Squad<\/strong> ran a piece called the <em><strong>50 Most Shocking TV Moments<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 So using just their list, I came up with <strong>my top ten<\/strong> [beware, there are <strong>spoilers<\/strong>, but my guess is you already know them]:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>10.\u00a0 Snakes and Rats &#8211; <em>&#8216;Survivor&#8217;<\/em> &#8212; &#8216;Season Finale&#8217; (Aug. 23, 2000)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Sue Hawk&#8217;s rant<\/strong> was the talk of <em><strong>Survivor<\/strong><\/em> fans and helped make the show must see tv.\u00a0 It shocked viewers and still is considered one of the &#8220;highlights&#8221; in the show&#8217;s history.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><strong>9. Mama of Anarchy &#8211; <em>&#8216;Sons of Anarchy&#8217;<\/em> &#8212; &#8216;Albification&#8217; (Sept. 8, 2009)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><strong>Sons of Anarchy<\/strong><\/em> has had a lot of shockingly brutal moments, but the rape of <strong>Gemma<\/strong> at the hands of white separtists was brutally shocking.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><strong>8. A Family Affair &#8211; <em>&#8221;The Shield&#8217; <\/em>&#8212; &#8216;Family Meeting&#8217; (Nov. 25, 2008)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Shane<\/strong> and his family had been on the run and it was clear that there wasn&#8217;t a good ending waiting, but the fact that <strong>Shane<\/strong> killed his wife and kids and then himself was a shocking end to a character who had been on the show since the first episode.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><strong> 7. Sin\u00e9ad O&#8217;Connor Declares War &#8211; <em>&#8216;Saturday Night Live&#8217;<\/em> &#8212; &#8216;Tim Robbins\/Sin\u00e9ad O&#8217;Connor&#8217; (Oct. 3, 1992)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Sin\u00e9ad O&#8217;Connor<\/strong> killed her career with her misguided act of protest.\u00a0 She&#8217;d have better off to go on <strong>Oprah<\/strong> and jump on the couch.\u00a0 <strong>O&#8217;Connor&#8217;s<\/strong> act of tearing up the picture of <strong>the Pope<\/strong> was and is so shocking that it&#8217;s only been seen on tv once since it happened.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><strong>6. Jumping the Couch &#8211; <em>&#8216;The Oprah Winfrey Show&#8217;<\/em> (May 23, 2005)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Tom Cruise<\/strong> was a box office superstar who could do no wrong&#8230; well, not counting that <strong>Brooke Shields<\/strong> incident&#8230; and then he started jumping on <strong>Oprah&#8217;s couch<\/strong>.\u00a0 Again and again.\u00a0 Faster than you could say whacky, <strong>Tom&#8217;s career<\/strong> was hurting and he was the butt of jokes everywhere.\u00a0 Shocking then and even more shocking that his career still hasn&#8217;t fully recovered.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><strong>5. A Kiss Is Not Just a Kiss &#8211; <em>&#8216;Star Trek&#8217; &#8212; &#8216;Plato&#8217;s Stepchildren&#8217;<\/em> (Nov. 22, 1968)<\/strong><br \/>\nI had just turned ten years old and still remember the first interracial kiss on television and how controversial it was.\u00a0 At the time\u00a0 didn&#8217;t understand the hoohal.\u00a0 I mean <strong>Kirk<\/strong> was kissing all kinds of aliens, so why the big deal about kissing an attractive human?\u00a0 Still, public reaction makes this a shocking moment.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><strong>4.\u00a0 Two for the Death of One &#8211; <em>&#8216;Lost&#8217; &#8212; &#8216;Two for the Road&#8217;<\/em> (May 3, 2006)<\/strong><br \/>\nWhen <strong>Michael<\/strong> shot and killed <strong>Ana Lucia<\/strong> I was shocked. Then <strong>Libby<\/strong> suddenly walked in, and <strong>Michael<\/strong> had to shoot her to cover up shooting <strong>Ana Lucia<\/strong> (which was done to cover up his release of <strong>Henry<\/strong>).\u00a0 Well played, <em><strong>Lost <\/strong><\/em>writers.\u00a0 You shocked us!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><strong>3.. Rocker Shocker &#8211; <em>&#8220;American Idol&#8217; &#8212; &#8216;Elvis Presley Week&#8217;<\/em> (May 10, 2006)<\/strong><br \/>\nMany, myself included, thought that <strong>Chris Daughtry<\/strong> could win it all.\u00a0 Everyone, including <strong>Daughtry<\/strong> himself was caught by surprise when he was voted out in the fourth spot.\u00a0 After finding out he was leaving, <strong>Daughtry<\/strong> told <strong>Ryan Seacrest<\/strong>,&#8221;I&#8217;m a little bit in shock.&#8221; Who am I to argue with <strong>Daughtry<\/strong>.\u00a0 Shocking it was.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><strong>2. &#8220;Chloe &#8230; Edgar &#8230;<em>&#8217;24&#8217; &#8212; &#8216;Day 5: 6:00 p.m. \u2013 7:00 p.m.&#8217;<\/em> (March 6, 2006)<\/strong><br \/>\nSome folks are expected to die on <em><strong>&#8220;24&#8221;<\/strong><\/em> but who would have thought that <strong>CTU<\/strong> geek <strong>Edgar Stiles<\/strong> would bite the bullet?\u00a0 He was such a popular character, a love story seemed to be blooming and he worked in the <strong>CTU<\/strong> headquarters.\u00a0 Who could be safer?\u00a0 Definitely shocking.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>1<strong>.
