Mark Pennington<\/strong> graduated from the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art<\/strong> in 1985<\/strong>. Upon graduation Mark<\/strong> became a toy designer at Hasbro. Mark<\/strong> created designs for the G.I. Joe<\/strong> line of action figures including a Rocky Balboa GI Joe<\/strong> that never saw production! Mark\u2019s first work<\/strong> as an inker<\/strong> in the comic book industry was for SQP<\/strong> on Judge Dredd<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

When I started collecting original sketches of Sly<\/strong>, Mark<\/strong> was one of the first artists that I approached. I was excited to get this Rambo head sketch<\/strong><\/a> from him. Earlier this month I posted Mark’s take on Sly as Rambo.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Today we have Mark’s take<\/strong> on Sly<\/strong> as an older Jack Carter<\/strong>. Although we’ll never get a sequel to Get Carter<\/strong><\/em>, and it is not a perfect film, Get Carter<\/strong><\/em> remains one of my favorite Stallone <\/strong>movies. Sly <\/strong>was perfect as the “bad brother” — the man who knew that he’d taken the wrong path and saw a chance at redemption by finding his brother’s killer and keeping his niece and sister-in-law safe. So I thought it would be cool to get Mark<\/strong> to draw Sly<\/strong> as Jack Carter<\/strong>, but with some more years on him… sort of like Clint Eastwood’s<\/strong> performance in Unforgiven<\/strong><\/em>.
