{"id":4800,"date":"2010-09-14T01:27:47","date_gmt":"2010-09-14T05:27:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=4800"},"modified":"2010-09-14T05:37:52","modified_gmt":"2010-09-14T09:37:52","slug":"lost-in-space-trivia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=4800","title":{"rendered":"Lost in Space Trivia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2010\/z09142010lost_space.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"316\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I was a fan of <em><strong>Lost in Space<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 It was a wonderful concept &#8211; a family sent on a space mission and thanks to a cowardly stowaway traitor, they get thrown off course and, well, lost in space.\u00a0 The <strong>robot<\/strong> was the coolest and I have to admit that I thought <strong>Penny <\/strong>was pretty cute too.\u00a0 Plus the dad was the guy who played <strong>Zorro<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>If you are\/were a <strong>Lost in Space<\/strong> fan, then you might be interested in some little known facts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Carroll O\u2019Connor<\/strong>, who played<strong> Archie Bunker <\/strong>on <strong><em>All in the Family<\/em><\/strong>, was initially considered to play the role of <strong>Dr. Smith<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The pilot episode cost<strong> $600,000.<\/strong> At the time, it was the most expensive TV pilot to date, with the exception of<em><strong> <em>Star Trek<\/em>\u2019s<\/strong><\/em> <strong>$630,000<\/strong> first pilot episode <strong>\u201cThe Cage.\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The strongly campy nature of the second and third seasons was, by the way, entirely intentional.  A year after <em><strong><em>Lost in Space<\/em><\/strong><\/em> debuted, the TV series <em><strong><em>Batman<\/em><\/strong><\/em> became a spectacular ratings success. <strong> Irwin Allen<\/strong> noticed and attributed its ratings to the show\u2019s playful tone.
