Jonathon Snowden<\/strong> over at The Bloody Elbow<\/strong><\/a> wrote a piece called Brock the Bully<\/strong>.\u00a0 Here are a couple of quotes from the piece followed by my thoughts…<\/p>\n

They say you see the true heart of a champion<\/strong> only after they’ve been knocked down… Brock Lesnar<\/span><\/strong> has been tested in the Octagon – and found wanting…<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

…You’d expect a true champion <\/strong>and a title contender<\/strong> to be clamoring to get back in the cage with his conqueror.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

…Simply put, Brock<\/strong> is a bully… Brock <\/strong>isn’t looking to rematch Carwin<\/strong> or get a return bout with Velasquez<\/strong>. Instead, Lesnar <\/strong>reportedly has set his sights on Roy Nelson<\/strong>…<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

…This isn’t the confident move of a fighter on his way back up the ladder. This is the path of the bully<\/strong>…<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

You can read Snowden’s entire piece here<\/strong><\/a> and if you’re an MMA<\/strong> fan, you should.\u00a0 Early in Brock’s career<\/strong> I called him a bully.\u00a0 I figured that the fighter who would beat Brock<\/strong> would have to be able to stand and trade punches with him while avoiding Brock’s takedowns<\/strong>.\u00a0 Carwin<\/strong> could do it and almost won.\u00a0 Velasquez<\/strong> did it and took the title.\u00a0 Once a fighter had the ability to stand and trade blows with Brock <\/strong>he was out of his element.\u00a0 My guess is that very few people have ever done that to him and consequently Brock <\/strong>doesn’t know how to deal with it.\u00a0 Brock<\/strong> could always rely on his size and strength to muscle those who dared face him.<\/p>\n

I also felt that Brock <\/strong>was a bully because of his behavior after losing to Frank Mir<\/strong>, after beating Heath Herring<\/strong>, and again after beating Frank Mir<\/strong>.\u00a0 When Brock<\/strong> lost he made excuses.\u00a0 When Brock<\/strong> won he acted like an idiot.\u00a0 Perhaps I was confusing Brock’s lack of class <\/strong>with being a bully<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Think about it, up to this point Brock<\/strong> has fought everyone put in front of him.\u00a0 He didn’t duck Mir<\/strong>, or Carwin<\/strong> or Velasquez<\/strong>.\u00a0 Right now it would be extremely for Brock<\/strong> to step away from MMA<\/strong>.\u00a0 He was the champ<\/strong>.\u00a0 He beat some of the best heavyweights in the world<\/strong>.\u00a0 Brock<\/strong> could make a TON of money by going back to the WWE<\/strong>.\u00a0 Or he could simply retire.<\/p>\n

The fact that Brock<\/strong> wants to stay in the UFC<\/strong> and fight again says something about his character.\u00a0 Would it be more impressive if Brock<\/strong> wanted a rematch against Carwin <\/strong>or Velasquez<\/strong>?\u00a0 Maybe… but maybe not.\u00a0 Carwin <\/strong>is rehabbing a back surgery.\u00a0 He probably won’t fight for six months or more.\u00a0 Brock<\/strong> seems anxious to get back into the octagon.\u00a0 Ok, so if Brock<\/strong> said he wanted Velasquez<\/strong>, do you really think he’s ready for THAT fight?\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 Me neither.\u00a0 And guess what?\u00a0 Brock<\/strong> probably doesn’t think so either.\u00a0 So who’s left?\u00a0 A lot of guys including Big Country Roy Nelson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

So, I have no problem with Brock <\/strong>wanting that fight.\u00a0 The great thing is, neither does Roy Nelson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
