Recently UGO<\/strong> listed their choices for The Greatest Professional Wrestlers of All Time<\/strong>.\u00a0 Using just their list<\/strong>, here is my top ten<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

  1. Hulk Hogan<\/strong> – Without a doubt one of the worst “wrestlers” to make the list, but also without a doubt one of the most popular of all time.\u00a0 Hogan<\/strong> at the top of his game could sell out any arena no matter who he was wrestling.\u00a0 Everyone knew who Hulk Hogan<\/strong> was and he was one of the first wrestlers to successfully move into movies.<\/li>\n
  2. Ric Flair<\/strong> – The “jet-flying, limo-riding, kiss-stealing, dirtiest player in the game.”\u00a0 Flair<\/strong> wrestled for so long, for so many organizations and always at the top of the card that he became a fan favorite despite his bad guy image.<\/li>\n
  3. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin<\/strong> – came in and changed the face of wrestling at a time when it was fading.\u00a0 Austin<\/strong> had “tried” other personas with limited success, but his no-nonsense, take no guff from the boss attitude struck a chord with fans.\u00a0 Austin<\/strong> has made the transition to movies.<\/li>\n
  4. Bruno Sammartino<\/strong> – one of the most popular wrestlers of all time.\u00a0 Because of his popularity, Bruno <\/strong>held the title for over ten years in two runs [something unheard of in the last few decades] and at one time held the record [perhaps still does?] for selling out Madison Square Garden<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  5. Dusty Rhodes <\/strong>– After a run in the midwest as part of a “bad guy” tag team, Dusty<\/strong> came south and became a literal Superstar<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  6. Mick Foley<\/strong> – has had more wrestling personas than most, but it’s Mick Foley<\/strong> the fans love.\u00a0 His “hell in the cell” <\/strong>match with the Undertaker<\/strong> made him a legend.<\/li>\n
  7. The Undertaker<\/strong> – Biker or Spawn of Hell?\u00a0 “It doesn’t matter!” said in the best Rock <\/strong>voice.\u00a0 The fans love him.<\/li>\n
  8. The Rock<\/strong> – had the Rock<\/strong> stuck with wrestling he’d be higher on the list.\u00a0 Actually I’m glad he didn’t since I dig most of his movies.<\/li>\n
  9. Andre the Giant<\/strong> – a living legend.\u00a0 Fans came to see Andre<\/strong>.\u00a0 It didn’t matter who or how many wrestlers he was wrestling.<\/li>\n
  10. Superstar Billy Graham<\/strong> – Paved the way for Hulk Hogan<\/strong> and all the musclebound, roided wrestlers of the 80’s and on…<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    UGO’s list<\/strong> is very limited.\u00a0 Where was Dick the Bruiser<\/strong> [my personal choice for #1], Mil Mascaras<\/strong>, Blackjack Mulligan<\/strong>, Wilbur Snyder<\/strong>, and so many others.\u00a0 And yes. Andy<\/strong>, I did see Moose Cholak <\/strong>wrestle many times, but he wouldn’t have made my top 50<\/strong>.\u00a0 Sorry Moose<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
