This past weekend I traveled to MegaCon<\/strong><\/a> with my buddy, John Beatty<\/strong>.\u00a0 We always have a blast at the show and this time was no exception.\u00a0 I didn’t take many photos, but I did get a shot of me with these two ladies.\u00a0 They were busy every day of the show posing with fans.\u00a0 I have no idea what they were there promoting… but like most everyone else I ended up getting a photo with them.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

One of the best things about going to MegaCon<\/strong> is meeting up with folks I seldom see.\u00a0 That’s Alberto Ruiz<\/strong><\/a> in the photo above with a Steampunk<\/em> Poison Ivy<\/strong>. [I think that Ivy<\/strong> has hypnotized Alberto<\/strong>!]\u00a0 It had been a couple of years since I crossed paths with the mighty talented Mr. Ruiz<\/strong>.\u00a0 I also got to hang a bit with John Higashi, Mike Zeck,\u00a0 Bob McLeod, Mike White, Gene Gonzales, Ron Salas, Dan Panosian, Dave Johnson,<\/strong> and many others.\u00a0 I owe special thanks to John Higashi<\/strong> for “introducing” me to Tim Sale<\/strong> [John<\/strong> works with Tim<\/strong> at his table keeping the commissions flowing].<\/p>\n

That’s Alberto<\/strong> [well, his hand, anyway] in the photo above sketching for a fan.\u00a0 John<\/strong> was also sketching and I watched him kick it on a couple of Star Wars<\/strong><\/em> pieces and a Black Knight<\/strong> piece.\u00a0 Who knows what I missed when I was out talking with artists and getting a few sketches of my own [which I will post in the coming weeks].<\/p>\n

If you follow comics at all then you may have heard about the controversy with one of the artists at the show.\u00a0 Rob Granito<\/strong> was set up at the show selling “his” art when a piece about him was posted at Bleeding Cool<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 The article exposed that Granito<\/strong><\/a> was copying other artists’ work and selling it as his own<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 In addition Granito<\/strong> was shamelessly taking credit for the work of others in order to help promote his copied artwork.\u00a0 One of my con buds, Matt Crews<\/strong> [be advised that Crews<\/strong> uses adult” language<\/strong>… a lot], actually went over and engaged Granito<\/strong> in conversation about “his art” and professional credits all the while videoing the conversation.\u00a0 A Rob Granito is a Fraud Facebook page<\/strong><\/a> went up.\u00a0 Granito<\/strong> was contacted by convention promoters and informed that he was no longer welcome at their shows.<\/p>\n

In summary, MegaCon<\/strong> was another fun and entertaining show for all… well maybe all but one.<\/p>\n
