Cast 1970s Style"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2011\/z092011expendables_70s.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"296\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Bryan Enk<\/strong> at <strong>IFC.com<\/strong> posted an interesting article that asked and answered the question: <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>What Would a 1970&#8217;s-Era &#8220;Expendables&#8221; Cast Look Like<\/strong><\/span>? \u00a0 For the most part, I think <strong>Enk&#8217;s<\/strong> choices are spot on.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s look at who he&#8217;d cast&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Charles Bronson<\/strong> &#8211; <strong>Bronson<\/strong> would have been my first choice as well.\u00a0<strong> Bronson<\/strong> would play <strong>Stallone&#8217;s<\/strong> character.\u00a0 The only thing better would have been for <strong>Bronson<\/strong> to have been alive to join the true cast.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Malcolm McDowell<\/strong> &#8211; Now THAT is an <strong>interesting<\/strong> choice.\u00a0 <strong>Enk<\/strong> says that <strong>McDowell<\/strong> would play <strong>Statham&#8217;s role<\/strong>, but I disagree.\u00a0 I think that <strong>McDowell<\/strong> would be better as <strong>Dolph Lundgren&#8217;s character<\/strong>. <strong>McDowell <\/strong>has that right mix of crazy to pull it off.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Steve McQueen<\/strong> &#8211; Although <strong>Enk<\/strong> doesn&#8217;t list a specific character for <strong>McQueen<\/strong>, for me at least, it is obvious that<strong> McQueen <\/strong>would play the unlucky in love loner that<strong> Jason Statham<\/strong> brought to life on the big screen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Bruce Lee<\/strong> &#8211; What fan wouldn&#8217;t have picked <strong>Bruce Lee<\/strong> to play an <strong>Expendable<\/strong>?\u00a0 Of course <strong>Lee<\/strong> would naturally fit in as <strong>Jet Li&#8217;s<\/strong> character.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Lee Marvin<\/strong> &#8211; Great choice!\u00a0 I see <strong>Lee Marvin<\/strong> taking on <strong>Arnold Schwarzenegger&#8217;s<\/strong> cameo as <strong>Trench<\/strong>.\u00a0 How cool would that have been?\u00a0 Very cool, says I.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Richard Roundtree<\/strong> &#8211; I can see <strong>Roundtree<\/strong> in the role played by <strong>Terry Crews<\/strong>, but I think I&#8217;d have rather seen <strong>Ron O&#8217;Neal<\/strong> or <strong>Jim Brown<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Gene Hackman<\/strong> &#8211; Ok, although I didn&#8217;t become a <strong>Gene Hackman<\/strong> fan until later in his career [it was me, not him], I can see him playing the <strong> <\/strong><strong>Eric Roberts&#8217; role<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Clint Eastwood <\/strong>&#8211; Who wouldn&#8217;t want to see <strong>Eastwood<\/strong> in the role of <strong>Mr. Church<\/strong> played by <strong>Bruce Willis<\/strong>?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Charlton Heston<\/strong> &#8211; <strong>Enk<\/strong> has <strong>Heston<\/strong> playing one of the cameos played by <strong>Schwarzenegger<\/strong> and <strong>Willis<\/strong>, but since I have already filled those parts, we&#8217;d have to give <strong>Chuck<\/strong> a new role.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since <strong>Enk<\/strong> didn&#8217;t come up with a <strong>70&#8217;s actor<\/strong> to play the roles brought to life by <strong>Steve Austin<\/strong> and <strong>David Zayas<\/strong>, I&#8217;d like to suggest <strong>William Smith<\/strong> and <strong>Ernest Borgnine<\/strong>&#8230; and don&#8217;t you think we&#8217;d have to find something for <strong>John Wayne<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bryan Enk at IFC.com posted an interesting article that asked and answered the question: What Would a 1970&#8217;s-Era &#8220;Expendables&#8221;
