Let&#8217;s look at the list&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><strong>Cape Fear (1991) \u2013 <\/strong>I&#8217;m a fan of the <strong>noir classic<\/strong> starring <strong>Robert Mitchum<\/strong> and <strong>Gregory Peck<\/strong>, but in the remake <strong>DeNiro<\/strong> took <strong>Max Cady<\/strong> to a level unavailable to movie audiences in <strong>1962<\/strong>.\u00a0 Both versions are excellent, but the nod goes to the remake.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><strong>Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) \u2013 <\/strong>I totally disagree.\u00a0 The <strong>1956<\/strong> original is a <strong>classic<\/strong> that still holds up.\u00a0 The remake doesn&#8217;t come close.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><strong>Little Shop of Horrors<\/strong> <strong>(1986) \u2013 <\/strong>Didn&#8217;t care for either version.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><strong>The Thomas Crown Affair (1999) \u2013 <\/strong>I know I&#8217;m in the minority, but I never was a big <strong>Steve McQueen<\/strong> fan.\u00a0 The original film is definitely a product of the <strong>60&#8217;s<\/strong>.\u00a0 The remake was okay, and good enough to get the nod as the better film.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><strong>The Fly (1986) \u2013 <\/strong>The <strong>remake<\/strong> benefited from <strong>advanced special effects<\/strong> and <strong>Jeff Goldblum<\/strong> as the <strong>off-center scientist<\/strong>.\u00a0 Having <strong>Geena Davis<\/strong> was also a plus!\u00a0 The <strong>remake<\/strong> was <strong>much scarier<\/strong> although who can forget the little voice in the original crying, <strong>&#8220;Help me! Help me!&#8221;<\/strong> as the <strong>spider<\/strong> advanced across his web?\u00a0 Nod to the remake.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><strong>The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) \u2013 <\/strong>Neither are <strong>Hichcock&#8217;s<\/strong> best but the second is better.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><strong>3:10 to Yuma (2007) \u2013 Three things<\/strong> really help the sequel: <strong>1] Russell Crowe<\/strong> <strong>2] Christian Bale<\/strong> and <strong>3]<\/strong> fans hungry for a <strong>good western<\/strong>.\u00a0 Both the original with <strong>Glenn Ford<\/strong> and the remake are good, but I&#8217;ll give the nod to the remake.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><strong>A Star is Born (1954) \u2013 <\/strong>I&#8217;ve never seen the <strong>Judy Garland<\/strong> version, or the <strong>1937<\/strong> original.\u00a0 Sorry.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><strong>The Ten Commandments (1956) \u2013 <\/strong>Since I&#8217;ve only seen the remake&#8230;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><strong>My Fair Lady (1964) \u2013 <\/strong>I&#8217;m quite content to say that I&#8217;ve never seen either version.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">This will probably not surprise regular readers, but I think <strong>Stallone&#8217;s<\/strong> <em><strong>&#8220;Get Carter&#8221;<\/strong><\/em> [although not a perfect film] is better than the <strong>Michael Caine<\/strong> original.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s an article that looks at 10 Movie Remakes That Are Better Than The Originals.
