I knew that he had been diagnosed with cancer several years ago, but I was under the impression that he had beaten it.<\/span><\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\">Although <b>Mr. Urich<\/b> appeared on many television shows, he was probably best known for his role as Spenser on the series<b> &#8220;Spenser for Hire&#8221;<\/b> based on the popular series of novels by <b>Robert B. Parker<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\"><b>Robert Urich<\/b> also appeared in other television series including <b>&#8220;Soap,&#8221; &#8220;Vega$,&#8221;&#8221;The Lazerus Man,&#8221;<\/b> and <b>&#8220;Lonesome Dove.&#8221;<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\">He was extremely active in supporting cancer research. With his wife he created the <a style=\"color: #cc0000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.roberturich.com\/urichcancerfund.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Heather and Robert Urich Fund for Sarcoma Research<\/b><\/a>. He is survived by his <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">wife<\/span>; <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">three children<\/span>; <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">two brothers<\/span>; <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">a sister<\/span>; and <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">his mother<\/span>. A <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">memorial service<\/span> is scheduled for <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Friday<\/span> in <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Los Angeles<\/span>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Robert Urich passed away at 4:25 this morning after a long bout with cancer.
