What makes <\/span><b style=\"font-family: arial;\">NILES<\/b><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"> unique is that he does this in the same book! <\/span><u style=\"font-family: arial; color: #cc0000;\"><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0971977526\/craizabls\/002-5019288-9248823\" target=\"_blank\">Guns<\/a><\/b><\/u><a style=\"font-family: arial; color: #cc0000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0971977526\/craizabls\/002-5019288-9248823\"><b>, <u>Drugs<\/u> <u>and<\/u> <u>Monsters<\/u><\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"> is actually the second in a [hopefully long-running] series featuring <\/span><b style=\"font-family: arial;\">Cal MacDonald<\/b><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">. <\/span><b style=\"font-family: arial;\">Cal<\/b><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"> is a human with the gift \/ curse that he knows that monsters walk among us. He knows this because he hunts them. Well, a guy has to make a living somehow, doesn&#8217;t he?<\/span><\/div>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\"><b>NILES<\/b> skillfully combines the best elements of <b>CHANDLER<\/b> and <b>HAMMETT<\/b> along with a dose of <b>KING<\/b>, plus a good bit of humor as well. I read through <u><b>Guns<\/b><\/u><b>, <u>Drugs<\/u> <u>and<\/u> <u>Monsters<\/u><\/b> in nearly one sitting [it&#8217;s that much fun]. It also features spot illustrations by <b style=\"color: #cc0000;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ashleywood.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">ASHLEY WOOD<\/a><\/b> that are the icing on the cake. I&#8217;ve already ordered <b style=\"color: #cc0000;\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/097122823X\/craizabls\/002-5019288-9248823\" target=\"_blank\">Savage<\/a><\/u> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/097122823X\/craizabls\/002-5019288-9248823\"><u>Membrane<\/u><\/a><\/b> [the book that started the series]. If it&#8217;s just half as good as <u><b>Guns<\/b><\/u><b> <\/b>then I&#8217;ll still have a winner.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: arial; text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>STEVE NILES writes a mean hard-boiled novel.
