Recently Total Film<\/strong><\/span><\/a> posted a piece titled the 50 Oldest Actions Heroes<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 So, let\u2019s take a look and see who still has it (from youngest to oldest)\u2026<\/p>\n 50 – Dwayne Johnson<\/strong> aka The Rock<\/em><\/strong> is the youngest on the list and potentially the one with the most potential<\/strong> of reaching the levels achieved by Stallone<\/strong> and Schwarzenegger<\/strong>.\u00a0 In order to do that though, Johnson<\/strong> is going to have to create a character that becomes iconic<\/strong> in popular culture<\/strong>.<\/p>\n 49 \u2013 Terry Crews.<\/strong>\u00a0 I always enjoy his screen presence, but would like to see him star in something gritty.<\/p>\n 48 \u2013 Will Smith.<\/strong>\u00a0 Action Star?\u00a0 Really?\u00a0 He could be, but I think of him more as a movie star.<\/p>\n 47 \u2013 Daniel Craig.<\/strong>\u00a0 He\u2019s great as Bond<\/strong> and I\u2019d be content to see him reprise the role several more times.<\/p>\n 46 \u2013 Jason Statham<\/strong>.\u00a0 Loved him in The Transporter<\/strong><\/em> films and of course, The Expendable<\/strong><\/em> movies.\u00a0 He\u2019s always a welcome presence, but it sure seems like he\u2019s making a lot of movies the last few years.<\/p>\n 45 \u2013 Vin Diesel.\u00a0<\/strong> One of my favorite action stars.\u00a0 Hopefully his return to Riddick<\/strong> <\/em>will be awesome.\u00a0 I\u2019m always interested to see what Diesel<\/strong> will do next.<\/p>\n 44 \u2013 Robert Downey, Jr.\u00a0<\/strong> Does playing Iron Man<\/strong><\/em> qualify you to be considered an action star?\u00a0 Like Will Smith<\/strong>, I think of Downey<\/strong> as a movie star.<\/p>\n 43 \u2013 Clive Owen<\/strong>.\u00a0 I like Owen<\/strong>.\u00a0 (Now, I can\u2019t get the Throw Mama from the Train<\/strong><\/em> voice out of my head so we will move on\u2026)<\/p>\n 42 \u2013 Ray Stevenson<\/strong>.\u00a0 Yeah, a great bad guy.\u00a0 Seems legitimately tough and scary.<\/p>\n 41 \u2013 Steve Austin<\/strong>.\u00a0 Except for The Expendables<\/strong><\/em>, Austin<\/strong> is usually in lower budget action movies.\u00a0 I like the guy.\u00a0 Can you imagine him in a tv series on FX<\/strong> like The Shield<\/strong><\/em> or Sons of Anarchy<\/strong><\/em>?\u00a0 Break out.<\/p>\n 40 \u2013 Nick Cage<\/strong>.\u00a0 The Rock.\u00a0 Con Air<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 Let\u2019s leave it at that.<\/p>\n 39 \u2013 Jet Li.<\/strong>\u00a0 Awesome fighter.\u00a0 Fun to see a different side of him in The Expendables<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n 38 \u2013 Tom Cruise<\/strong>.\u00a0 Seems like Cruise<\/strong> is getting a resurgence of late.\u00a0 Oh, and while we\u2019re on the subject of Tom Cruise<\/strong>, shouldn\u2019t he have been the star to play Jim West<\/strong> when the remake of The Wild, Wild West<\/strong><\/em> was made?<\/p>\n 37 \u2013 Wesley Snipes<\/strong>.\u00a0 Loved him as Blade<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 Hope he is in Expendables 3<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n 36 \u2013 Laurence Fishburn<\/strong>.\u00a0 Perfect as Neo<\/strong>.\u00a0 I was surprised he is only 51<\/strong>.\u00a0 He\u2019s been around forever.\u00a0 Of course he was just a teenager in Apocalypse Now<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n 35 \u2013 Jean-Claude Van Damme<\/strong>.\u00a0 My favorite JCVD<\/strong> movies: Cyborg, Hard Target<\/strong><\/em> and The Expendables 2<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n 34 \u2013 Antonio Banderas<\/strong>.\u00a0 Most remember him from Desperado<\/strong><\/em> and Zorro<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 Check out: Assassins<\/strong><\/em>, The Big Bang<\/strong><\/em> (love it!), The 13th<\/sup> Warrior<\/strong><\/em> (love it) and Haywire<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n 33 \u2013 Ving Rhames.<\/strong>\u00a0 Big Ving<\/strong>.\u00a0 Always a welcome sight on the movie screen.<\/p>\n 32 \u2013 Sean Bean<\/strong>.\u00a0 Haven\u2019t seen him in a lot, but like what I\u2019ve seen.<\/p>\n 31 \u2013 Bruce Campbell.<\/strong>\u00a0 King of the B-movies and comic fans everywhere.<\/p>\n 30 \u2013 Dolph Lundgren<\/strong>.\u00a0 He was perfect as Drago<\/strong> in Rocky IV<\/strong><\/em> and Gunner<\/strong> in The Expendables<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n 29 \u2013 Christopher Lambert.<\/strong>\u00a0 I thought he was older.\u00a0 Loved him in Highlander<\/strong><\/em> (the first \u2013 and there should have only been one).<\/p>\n 28 \u2013 Eric Roberts.<\/strong> Really? Action star?<\/p>\n 27 \u2013 Michael Biehn<\/strong>. Always thought he\u2019d be a bigger break out star.<\/p>\n 26 \u2013 Chow Yun-Fat.<\/strong>\u00a0 See comments for Michael Biehn<\/strong>.<\/p>\n 25 \u2013 Mel Gibson<\/strong>.\u00a0 Really, really good at making action movies.\u00a0 Loved him in most of the roles he starred in and most of the films he\u2019s directed.\u00a0 His personal life has been such a mess it\u2019s impacted his status in Hollywood<\/strong>.\u00a0 Hopefully, he\u2019ll get back on track and start making great movies again \u2013 even if it\u2019s only directing.<\/p>\n 24 \u2013 Bruce Willis.<\/strong>\u00a0 Gotta love Willis<\/strong>.\u00a0 Yippee Ki-Yay, indeed.<\/p>\n 23 \u2013 Denzel Washington.\u00a0 Training Day<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 \u2018nuff said.<\/p>\n 22 \u2013 Jackie Chan<\/strong>.\u00a0 So entertaining.<\/p>\n 21 \u2013 John Travolta<\/strong>.\u00a0 Action star?<\/p>\n 20 \u2013 John Malkovich<\/strong>.\u00a0 Movie star.\u00a0 Crazy villain.\u00a0 Action star?<\/p>\n 19 \u2013 Steven Seagal.<\/strong>\u00a0 Former action star.\u00a0 Now full time crazy celebrity.<\/p>\n 18 \u2013 Liam Neeson<\/strong>.\u00a0 Came late to the action movie arena, but brought his \u201cA\u201d game.\u00a0 Action star!<\/p>\n 17 \u2013 Kurt Russell.<\/strong>\u00a0 Wish we saw more from Kurt Russell<\/strong>.\u00a0 How about one more outing as Snake Plissken<\/strong>?<\/p>\n 16 \u2013 Jean Reno<\/strong>.\u00a0 The Professional<\/strong><\/em> aka Leon<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n 15 \u2013 Samuel L. Jackson.\u00a0<\/strong> Action star.\u00a0 Movie star.\u00a0 Whatever Mr. Jackson<\/strong> wants.<\/p>\n 14 \u2013 Arnold Schwarzenegger.<\/strong>\u00a0 One time co-king of action stars.\u00a0 His most recent outing in The Last<\/strong> Stand<\/strong><\/em> barely made the top 10 in its opening week. \u00a0I was shocked.<\/p>\n 13 \u2013 Carl Weathers.\u00a0<\/strong> I always expected bigger and better from Carl Weathers<\/strong>.\u00a0 Somebody use this guy!\u00a0 (Anybody remember his tv series, Fortune Dane<\/strong><\/em>? \u00a0I do and I liked it.)<\/p>\n 12 \u2013 Danny Glover.\u00a0<\/strong> Does co-starring in the Lethal Weapon<\/strong><\/em> series make you an action star?<\/p>\n 11 \u2013 Sylvester Stallone.<\/strong>\u00a0 Still Rockying (pun intended) it.<\/p>\n 10 \u2013 Danny Trejo.\u00a0<\/strong> Who doesn\u2019t love to see Danny Trejo<\/strong> on the screen?<\/p>\n 09 \u2013 Gary Busey.\u00a0<\/strong> Action star?<\/p>\n 08 \u2013 Harrison Ford.<\/strong>\u00a0 Movie star who has made some very good action films.\u00a0 Hard to believe he\u2019s 70.<\/p>\n 07 \u2013 Nick Nolte<\/strong>. Movie star who also made some good action films.<\/p>\n 06 \u2013 Chuck Norris.<\/strong>\u00a0 Action star.\u00a0 Appeared on screen with Bruce Lee<\/strong> and Stallone<\/strong>. You know how I feel about that.<\/p>\n 05 \u2013 Ian McKellen.\u00a0<\/strong> Action star?<\/p>\n 04 \u2013 Burt Reynolds.<\/strong>\u00a0 Before Stallone<\/strong>. Before Schwarzenegger<\/strong>.\u00a0 Burt Reynolds<\/strong> was the king.\u00a0 Just thinking about it makes me want to go watch Sharkey\u2019s Machine<\/strong><\/em> again.<\/p>\n 03 \u2013 Sean Connery<\/strong>.\u00a0 Connery<\/strong> was always James Bond<\/strong> cool.<\/p>\n 02 \u2013 Clint Eastwood<\/strong>.\u00a0 An American Icon.
