\n<\/strong><\/em>E<\/span><\/a>arlier this week,<\/span> Carl Jansson<\/strong> at<\/span> WhatCulture<\/strong> posted his choices for<\/span><\/span> 10 Non-Superhero Comic Series That Would Make Great TV Shows<\/span><\/a><\/span>. \u00a0<\/strong>Here are Carl’s Choices and my thoughts…<\/p>\n

10. Drafted <\/strong><\/span><\/a>by Mark Powers <\/strong>and\u00a0Chris Lie
\n<\/strong>My thoughts: This could work… but so much would depend on the budget for special effects. It wouldn’t be my first choice and it wasn’t Jansson’s either.<\/p>\n

09.\u00a0DMZ<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0by Brian Wood<\/strong> and\u00a0Riccardo Burchielli<\/strong>
\nMy thoughts: This series has run for years and with recent news events, is more relevant than ever. \u00a0I’d tune in.<\/p>\n

08. \u00a0Queen & Country<\/strong><\/span><\/a> by Greg Rucka<\/strong> and various artists
\nMy thoughts: This has a lot of potential. \u00a0My biggest worry would there be an audience for a British spy that wasn’t 007.<\/p>\n

07. \u00a0Criminal Macabre<\/strong><\/span><\/a> by Steve Niles<\/strong> and various artists
\nMy thoughts: If I had the power to get a show made, I’d be all over this one. \u00a0Steve Niles has created a world that would be fun to visit.<\/p>\n

06. \u00a0100 Bullets<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>by Brian Azzarello<\/strong> and Eduardo Risso<\/strong>
\nMy thoughts: This would be my first choice to bring to tv. \u00a0It’s a crime drama that has the potential to\u00a0breakout on the level of The Sopranos. \u00a0Man, I wish someone would make this!<\/p>\n

05. \u00a0Northlanders<\/strong><\/span><\/a> by Brian Wood<\/strong> and various artists
\nMy thoughts: With the popularity of Game of Thrones and Vikings, this might be seen as an effort to cash in, and maybe it would be… but if it produces a great tv show, who cares?<\/p>\n

04. \u00a0Chew<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>by\u00a0John Layman<\/strong> and Rob Guillory<\/strong>
\nMy thoughts: I think the premise\u00a0(“Tony Chu is Cibopathic, which means he gets psychic impressions from whatever he eats. It also means he’s a hell of a detective, as long as he doesn’t mind nibbling on the corpse of a murder victim to figure out whodunit, and why.”) \u00a0would turn people off before they tried the first episode.<\/p>\n

03. \u00a0Skinwalker<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span> by\u00a0Nunzio DeFilippis<\/strong> & Christina Weir<\/strong> (writers) and Brian Hurtt<\/strong> & Arthur Dela Cruz<\/strong> (artists)
\nMy thoughts: This one could work. \u00a0I’d tune in, but I wonder if this, like Chew, would turn people off before they even gave it a shot.<\/p>\n

02. \u00a0Gotham Central<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>by Various
\nMy thoughts: I’d like to think this would work. \u00a0I just wonder if the viewing\u00a0public would want Batman more than he’d be seen.<\/p>\n

01. \u00a0Damage Control<\/strong> by Various
\nMy thoughts: Do we really want a tv series about a group that has to clean up the mess left by battles between superheroes and villains? \u00a0Yeah, I didn’t think so either.<\/p>\n

Jansson’s<\/strong> article got me thinking. \u00a0So this week, I’ll post my choices for non-superhero comics that should\u00a0get a shot as a tv series.<\/p>\n
