{"id":8525,"date":"2013-07-06T01:43:25","date_gmt":"2013-07-06T05:43:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=8525"},"modified":"2013-06-29T11:12:55","modified_gmt":"2013-06-29T15:12:55","slug":"the-terminator-reboot-how-will-it-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/craigzablo.com\/?p=8525","title":{"rendered":"The Terminator Reboot &#8211; How Will It Work?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><\/strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/zone\/2013\/z070613arnold_terminator.png\" width=\"500\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em>Recently <strong>Annapurna Pictures<\/strong> and <strong>Skydance Productions<\/strong>\u00a0announced that the <em><strong>Terminator<\/strong><\/em> movie franchise was going to reboot with the first of a projected trilogy to premiere in the summer of <strong>2015<\/strong>. \u00a0<strong>Arnold Schwarzenegger<\/strong> was in talks to star.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Over at the <strong>MTV Movies Blog<\/strong>, <strong>Kevin P. Sullivan<\/strong> posted <a href=\"http:\/\/moviesblog.mtv.com\/2013\/06\/28\/terminator-5-everything-we-know-about-the-new-movies\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+mtvmoviesblog+%28MTV+Movies+Blog%29\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>Terminator 5: Everything We Know About the New Movies<\/strong><\/em><\/a>. \u00a0In his piece, <strong>Sullivan<\/strong> posts his thoughts on the direction the new film should take. \u00a0Here are his major points and <em>my thoughts<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Arnold has to be human. \u00a0Sullivan<\/strong> contends, and most would have to agree, that because <strong>Arnold<\/strong> ain&#8217;t a spring chicken, it would be hard to accept him as a <strong>Terminator<\/strong>. <em>\u00a0My first reaction was, <strong>Sullivan<\/strong> is right. \u00a0But then I reconsidered. \u00a0With the right make-up and stunt doubles <strong>Arnold<\/strong> could realistically play a <strong>Terminator<\/strong> again&#8230; if that&#8217;s the direction the movie goes.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>(Arnold) has to be the model for the T-800. \u00a0Sullivan<\/strong> asks, &#8220;If Schwarzenegger&#8217;s character is human, how do you explain his uncanny resemblance to the Terminator that hunts Sarah Connor in the first film and protects her son John in the second?&#8221; \u00a0<em>This could be a problem except for the fact that the new <strong>Terminator<\/strong> films are\u00a0a reboot. \u00a0As long as this is clear to the average movie-goer, then the earlier <strong>Terminator<\/strong> movies&#8217; continuity are no longer a problem.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kayFrIR-Qfw\" height=\"375\" width=\"500\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/center>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>This deleted scene is getting reconned.<\/strong>\u00a0Two things stop the above deleted scene from being a problem: 1) It is a <strong>deleted scene<\/strong> and so has no place in the any\u00a0<strong>Terminator<\/strong> continuity and 2) the new film is the start of a reboot &#8212; past continuity doesn&#8217;t come into play.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><strong>It&#8217;s either set it in the past&#8230;\u00a0<strong>&#8230;or in the future. <\/strong><\/strong><em>\u00a0Well, yeah. \u00a0I like the thought of a Terminator film set in the 1940&#8217;s or 50&#8217;s. \u00a0I also like the idea of Dwayne &#8220;The Rock&#8221; Johnson playing a part. \u00a0I especially liked the idea that &#8220;Schwarzenegger would play the man who stops the futuristic assassin using period-appropriate technology, thus impressing the robotic overlords and becoming the model for the T-800.&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;ve always enjoyed the <strong>Terminator<\/strong> movies (and the first two remain all-time favorites) so I look forward to seeing \u00a0how this will all play out.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to\u00a0<strong>Kevin P.
